Thanks, LD. On the not so sunny side, we just elected a Dem Treasurer who turned around and voted with the nasty Repub SoS we just elected (i’m wondering about optical scanning machines now) to sell off one of our national treasures, the coastal Elliott Forest, home to stunning waterfalls, old growth timber, and endangered species. The Governor had directed them to come up with a compromise public option, which, while still awful, at least saved steep slopes, very old growth and riparian areas. Don’t know if it was kabuki or if the Gov meant what she said.

We have a #betrayedmyvote hashtag now and soon, unless we’re totally blessed, lucky, whatever, and there’s a doover, which is possible b/c it can be brought up again, we’ll lose one of the last great forests. These people cannot see that once these are gone, they’re gone, especially in this climate, both environmentally and politically? Or they really don’t care.

At any rate, another Dem betrayal. Anger.

It’s the “They really don’t care” option. As long as they gain some money or power or both they truly do not give a rat’s ass about anything or any one.

From Mr. Reich:

The biggest and most important campaign promise Trump made about restoring American jobs was to stop China from manipulating its currency. During the campaign, Trump called China “the single greatest currency manipulator that’s ever been on this planet,” and said he’d make labeling China a manipulator a “day one” priority.

We’re now into day 23, and Trump hasn’t taken any steps against China.
Quite the contrary: The Wall Street Journal reports that Trump is considering a proposed change in what it means to be a “currency manipulator” under U.S. trade laws. The new definition would allow Trump to avoid singling out and angering China.

Could this have anything to do with the fact that China is on the verge of giving the Trump brand intellectual property protection — meaning YUGE profits for Trump’s worldwide businesses?

The U.S. debt to China is $1.05 trillion, as of November 2016. That’s 27.8 percent of the $3.77 trillion in Treasury bills, notes, and bonds held by foreign countries.

If China decided to call in its debt all at once the demand for the US dollar would plummet like a rock.

President Trump has a habit of talking about his Electoral College win at inappropriate moments, but his reference on Wednesday was perhaps the most unexpected.

The scene: A joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. An Israeli reporter asked a straightforward question about “a sharp rise in anti-Semitic incidents across the United States” since his election.

Here’s how Trump responded:

Well, I just want to say that we are, you know, very honored by the victory that we had — 316 electoral college votes. We were not supposed to crack 220. You know that, right? There was no way to 221, but then they said there’s no way to 270. And there’s tremendous enthusiasm out there.

I will say that we are going to have peace in this country. We are going to stop crime in this country. We are going to do everything within our power to stop long simmering racism and every other thing that’s going on. There’s a lot of bad things that have been taking place over a long period of time.

I think one of the reasons I won the election is we have a very, very divided nation, very divided. And hopefully, I’ll be able to do something about that. And I, you know, it was something that was very important to me.

As far as people, Jewish people, so many friends; a daughter who happens to be here right now; a son-in-law, and three beautiful grandchildren. I think that you’re going to see a lot different United States of America over the next three, four or eight years. I think a lot of good things are happening.

And you’re going to see a lot of love. You’re going to see a lot of love.

OK? Thank you.

When stuck for an adequate response he immediately falls back on the mantra of how tremendous he and his victory was. Also too that he will make America great again. It just shows how egotistical and how unprepared he is for the job. He acted similarly during the press conference with Trudeau.

Tell Senator Chuck Schumer and U.S. Senate Democrats to give Joe the boot.

When President Trump issued an executive order of questionable legality and then lashed out at the process of judicial review, Senator Joe Manchin III offered no rebuke. When unqualified and dangerous Cabinet nominees were brought forth, he voted for ALL EXCEPT TWO.

In 2018, Justice Democrats will present a strong, viable primary challenge to Sen. Manchin — one that won’t take a dime of special interest money and instead represent the needs and interests of West Virginians.

Until then, please sign our petition to demand this closet GOPer be removed from Democratic Senate leadership.

A little food for thought!

I certainly despise Trump. The problem is about the predicament that Hillary and the DNC put us into.

WE could have and should have had Bernie!

I somewhat agree with Michael’s assessment.

The MIC just sits back and smiles.

Some Clintonistas just can’t give up!
