I was gratified that President Carter felt the Bern! But overall, it was a very thoughtful discussion. I suspect President Carter wanted to bring the discussion on a global level as Bernie tends to speak more about the issues in the US.

Joe Manchin will be primaried!

I love the sound of this young lady!!!

I wonder if the DNC will give Paula Jean funding…she’ll need it against Manchin as he gets his from Wall Street and other Big Corp sponsors. I’d love to see her win this one.

It obviously wasn’t worth the sacrifice of blood and treasure!

This could prove to be interesting. Not necessarily in a good way.

So are the Syrian Kurds going to fight Assad or use the arms to gain independence? If they’re using them against Assad, why is Trump completely going back on his pledge to attempt to remain on good terms with Russia?

Dang, guess they either got to him and his cohorts with all the bad stuff they could publicize about such “family” “Christian” people, or the adulation he gets from the MSM and the “acceptable” politicians from stirring things up with Russia has made him change course so drastically. That was one thing I thought was good about Trump, his willingness not to get in a MIC-inspired, neolib-loving spat with Russia. This is awful, although I’m hopeful that the CIA at least will not allow anything nuclear to go off. I don’t know enough about all this, but I don’t like the feel of it, at all.

grapevines

…my guess would be that the corporate armaments industry dealers got to him..along with the let’s destroy all middle-east countries Zionist political views (Trump’s pro-Zionist agenda son-in-law espouses) and others you mentioned.

I don’t like the feel of it either. Say good bye to the hope of a return to detente foreign policy.

Paul Logan

Neither. They already have autonomy (an inclusive federal democratic state) and work with Assad’s government. They are fighting ISIS, and have been the most effective force against it. The Kurds in Syria are independent of pro-independence Kurdish forces in Turkey, as well as the Kurdish government in Northern Iraq.

Nothing to see here. Just a slight inconvenience.

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — A portion of a storage tunnel that contains rail cars full of radioactive waste collapsed Tuesday morning, forcing an emergency declaration at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation in southeastern Washington state.

Officials detected no release of radiation and no workers were injured, said Randy Bradbury, a spokesman for the Washington state Department of Ecology.

grapevines

Oh GWD the article said 56 million gallons of radioactive waste are in the 177 rail cars buried there 🙁 9,000 site workers evacuated (after exposure?)and nearby town residents told to stay indoors….a strong wind could carry that crap to Seattle only 200 miles away.

An old Wiki picture shows the site is right on the banks of the Columbia River…I wonder if that is correct.

I definitely suspect they are not letting “the little people” in on what is really happening there.

UPDATE 1:20 PM EDT —

According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) – their “RADnet” system for monitoring radiation throughout the USA is now showing a fast rise in radiation levels in the entire Richland, WA area, where the Hanford Nuclear Reservation is located. Below is a screen shot from the EPA’s Geiger Counter readings showing more than 100 point spike in local Gamma radiation levels, and those levels are still rising rapidly:

UPDATE 2:20 PM EDT —

About an hour ago — 10:30 am local time — the “take cover” order for employees at the Hanford Site was EXTENDED TO THE ENTIRE SITE which is about half the size of Rhode Island.

About 3,000 workers have taken cover at the “200 East Area” of the sprawling complex, local media reported.

SuperStation95 has also just learned that, despite claims to the contrary, about 61 workers were inside the tunnel when the collapse took place.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has just enacted FLIGHT RESTRICTIONS banning all aircraft from flying below 4,000 feet within two miles of the Hanford site!

The neighboring state of OREGON has just activated its Office of Emergency Management, declaring a “Level 2” Emergency which puts their Emergency Operations Center on Stand-by.

How Clintonesque is this?

https://www.apnews.com/824c448c9dae4f8b9f8af5a9679bda63?utm_campaign=SocialFlow&utm_source=Twitter&utm_medium=AP

AP source: Abedin didn’t send as many emails as Comey said.

A top aide to Hillary Clinton did not forward “hundreds and thousands” of emails to her husband’s laptop as FBI Director James Comey recently testified to Congress, according to a person familiar with the investigation into Clinton’s use of a private email server.

But a person familiar with the investigation, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the person was not authorized to discuss the testimony publicly, says that was a misstatement of the number of emails involved.

Here is my point. The anonymous source doesn’t deny Comey’s contention about the emails but rather attempts to “muddy the water” by disputing the number of them. It may have only been 1999 emails instead of thousands.

NATIONAL SECURITY!!!!!

On her own blackberry? at the start of her job as scty of state

On her home server?

Thomas Drake had to plead guilty after the government case against him collapsed. He was threatened with life in prison. They got him for having a classified document on his computer. When he put it on his computer it was not classified.

two tier justice system again, and again,

Hmm, I wonder what happens if the primary process is rigged? Will we “get policies that don’t reflect” our interests?

Obama seems to be turning into a condescending scold. I’m not liking the look at all!

hooo, boy, heeerrrre we go. he’s very actively recruiting Third Way Dems, and, as you know, he has ample charm and a huge number of die-hard supporters. it’s even hard for me to be so critical of him, at times. just always want to give him the benefit of the doubt, and I know better!

humphrey

I think we got his direction when he pushed for Perez over Ellison.

Don midwest

come on, don’t give him even this much credit. He was selected years ago.

I have posted this before – his 2006 speech at the kick off of The Hamilton Project – neo liberal project co chair by Bob Rubin who was Obama’s tutor on econ

at the last NN the chief trade rep for AFLCIO (may have been lead atty, not sure), a black man, he said that Obama will not support TPP because it would harm his legacy

wrong

his legacy is neo liberal econ and slow walking climate change

Wouldn’t it be nice if there was a television channel that reflected progressive views?? Progs are SO left out!

Caitlin on Bernie and the McResistance again. And on how she moves forward by looking for what is juicy and sparks her, rather than resisting what makes her depressed.

I like to be reminded of that option. :O)

From Bernie:

Donald Trump’s decision to fire FBI Director James Comey raises serious questions about what his administration is hiding. Why did President Trump fire the person leading the investigation into possible collusion between his campaign and the Russian government? I find it deeply troubling that this decision comes a day after damning testimony by former acting Attorney General Sally Yates on Russia’s ties to the Trump campaign and just days before Comey was scheduled to appear before the Senate Intelligence Committee.

President Trump has repeatedly taken steps to kill inquiries into Russia’s involvement in the U.S. election. It is clear that whomever President Trump handpicks to lead the FBI will not be able to objectively carry out this investigation. We need an independent investigation into the Trump campaign’s ties to Russia.
