I saw this before but didn’t want to post it because of PB4. I know its part of nature thinning the herd sometimes but this is due to mankind’s activity -different story. If mankind doesn’t change their ways we will simply fall way of the PB. Mother earth may make so man cannot survive here any longer. Its time to forget the R and D voting and start voting for people that will admit climate change is caused by mankind’s activity and put forth policies that will save earth for our kids and grandkids. Its the 4th quarter and were running out of time to do the right thing.

Thanks pb! Did you see where Jeremy Corbyn is taking on global corporations? He’s very brave I think.

This story came from the London Economic:

Watch Jeremy Corbyn’s full speech to the United Nations

Jeremy Corbyn’s speech to the United Nations officials at Geneva’s Palais de Nations on Friday is well worth a watch.

Whatever you think of the Labour leader’s politics, the speech was thought provoking on topics from growing inequality and tax avoidance to human rights and climate change.

It’s all good, but here’s a small snippet:

all over the world people are standing up and saying enough to the unchained power of multinational companies to dodge taxes, grab land and resources on the cheap and rip the heart out of workforces and communities.

That’s why I make the commitment to you today that the next Labour government in Britain will actively support the efforts of the UN Human Rights Council to create a legally binding treaty to regulate transnational corporations under international human rights law.

Genuine corporate accountability must apply to all of the activities of their subsidiaries and suppliers.

Impunity for corporations that violate human rights or wreck our environment, as in the mineral-driven conflicts in the Democratic Republic of Congo, must be brought to an end.

This is why there’s been so little media coverage of the Paradise Papers

The British mainstream media is refusing to cover the Paradise Papers because most of the avoiders own the newspapers, James O’Brien has claimed.

Speaking on LBC today O’Brien launched a scathing attack on Telegraph owners David and Frederick Barclay, Daily Mail owner Jonathan Harmsworth and The Sun and The Times owner Rupert Murdoch for gagging the damning financial data leak.

The Paradise Papers investigation showed how the powerful and ultra-wealthy secretly invest vast amounts of cash in offshore tax havens, but it has been largely swept under the carpet by the mainstream media.

Some of them manage to hide news about the Paradise Papers while at the same time figuring out a way to try to damage Corbyn when they sorta do include stories about it!

Harmsworth’s Daily Mail also saved its coverage of one of the biggest financial leaks this century to the tenth page where it also took aim at Corbyn for speaking out about the Queen’s tax affairs.

Here’s a little something different.

Canadian researchers say you can improve memory with this one weird trick

Here’s a study tip just in time for exam season: if you want to remember something, read it out loud.

It’s called the “production effect” — a term coined by the Canadian researcher who discovered it, Colin MacLeod, a psychology professor at the University of Waterloo.

Typing something out or writing it down also results in variations of the production effect on memory. Even mouthing something without producing sound seems to trigger the effect. But what appears to work best is speaking it aloud.

A dog called Odin survives California wildfires after refusing to abandon his goats

As the raging California wildfires encroached upon Roland Handel’s home, he had to make a split-second decision — try to force his dog Odin into the car, or leave him behind.

Odin is one of two great Pyrenees who take turns guarding the family’s eight goats from coyotes and mountain lions, and he was on duty the night the fires broke out.

“At night, Odin won’t leave the goats,” Handel told As It Happens host Carol Off. “When I approached, he sat down in front of the goats, and I know that look. He wasn’t moving.”

With flames racing towards his property, he said there was no time to load the goats into a trailer.

“I had my 14-year-old daughter and we had to get out,” (Roland Handel) said.

So he opened the gates so the animals could flee, then drove off with his daughter, their three other dogs and two cats all packed into the family car.

“The cars behind us on the road had fire pouring out of the windows just minutes after we left,” he said. “It was life and death.”

“By the time we were going down the road, you could hear the twisting metal of transmission towers falling and propane tanks exploding,” Handel said. “I’ll never forget it.”

But Odin had a mission.

Odin survived with all eight goats. ‘He didn’t lose a single one,’ his owner said.

“I couldn’t believe it,” Handel said. “Everything else is gone. There’s nothing.”
Odin ran up to him and showered him with kisses, he said. The dogs paw pads were burnt and his bright white fur was singed orange.

“He looked small and he was limping. He was lying down a lot. He was clearly exhausted.”

Odin is expected to make a full recovery.

A group of deer had gathered with Odin and the goats, Handel said, perhaps also taking advantage of the brave pooch’s protection. The deer scattered when Handel approached.

He believes the dog led the other animals to a clearing at the centre of a high outcropping of rocks to avoid contact with the flames.

Clicking on link really is a must. Site seems safe enough and the pics of Odin and the goats are well worth it.

As far as the California wildfires, last I heard the firefighters were making progress, but the wind is expected to pickup tomorrow. Scary.

Wonderful story. It’s awful out there with the geologic desert to start with, and accelerating climate change. They are letting all animals loose as the animals have a better chance (than a stupid human) of surviving.

Now that’s a site I can look at!

Ro Khanna working hard to sound like he’s on our side. I hope he keeps it up and walks the walk.

This is what he was responding to (it doesn’t show up for me)

Is this true? Anyone know? Whether or not Ellison would be able to run in next election?

A super-silly news item today (I’m beginning to wonder how long monarchies will last. They seem so….old-fashioned):

So I trolled them with this video. A must-watch 😉

Ohhh, who’s this?

I have no idea who this female is. She may or may not be legit. Anything is possible in this state. I’ll let you guys/gals know as I follow it. I don’t fully trust Twitter either.

We’re having our first snowfall of the season.

Stores were packed yesterday, and today most everyone is hunkered down. Looks like about five inches, no biggie.

One commenter said this:

Just like in Kenya! Each child needs to bring a piece of wood for the stove! Can we say hot lunch!

This is a comment from a facebook posting of that pic:

All of my grandparents were hauled to school in a very similar rig – seriouisly . . . some of them were thrilled when the stove was installed
