Morning All A couple links (below) to get started, Bernie on CNN on health care-“America didn’t want the GOP version” and also the escalating costs of Trumps security by the SS- Huff post. Getting way our of hand. His 8th weekend of golfing since being sworn in. If Obama had done this much the GOP would have demanded that he stop in the name of the hard working taxpayer. SO R’s where is the outrage on behalf of the taxpayer? Oh I forgot it’s ok if an R president does it. Have a great day TPW’ers. Hopefully the links work. … Continue reading →
Morning All, First thanks to Benny for kicking off coverage of the DNC election for party leader. A link to Caitlin Johnstone’s article for today. ” By Electing Perez, The DNC Has Officially Taken Sole Responsibility For Trump’s 2020 Win progressives again.” http://www.newslogue.com/debate/356/CaitlinJohnstone Keep fighting everyone one thing about the losing streak were on, streaks end at some point and we will start winning our battles again. We’re not the Greedy Old Party concerned with greed and power on the backs of our fellow man. What ever party we end up in it will be a party of the people … Continue reading →
Good morning all. Record warmth today in WI with temps expected to hit mid to upper 50s maybe 60. unusual to say the least. Looks like Paul Ryan released a template for Trump Inc. care or Ryan Care or more profit for the 1% -pick one. One of the ideas is a health savings account. The middle class and poor just have tons of disposable income to put in an HSA don’t we? Thankfully my employer has a decent health bene’s otherwise it would cost me $1800 a month to have the same plan on my own I would assume … Continue reading →
This was sent to me a while back by e-mail no info on the author though but this made the rounds when the 99% movement started. Also a meme if it worked at the end. keep up the good fight everyone. Thoughts of an average 99% American to the 1% & corporate America– Lets get something straight. We, the 99%, want you to know that we are not the least bit jealous of what you have, we especially do not admire the way that most of you got what you have nor do we want to be you. It is … Continue reading →
Good morning all, Enjoying the morning joe in my well used Bernie mug. Been following the writings of Caitlin Johnstone and found this one interesting. “The True Enemy Of Progress Isn’t The GOP, It’s The Democratic Establishment” Hope the link works otherwise search Newslouge for her writings. http://www.newslogue.com/debate/306/CaitlinJohnstone Not to step on bebimbobs science posts but I read an article on the potential uses of metallic hydrogen but I would welcome his opinion in his science sunday series and defer to his education in physics. Have a great weekend all.
Thought I would kick off the weekend with the Quinnipiac Poll on Trumps approval rating after the election, Considering he’s not in office I find the numbers fascinating none the less. So much for the so called honeymoon period. Work has been a total pain in the ass so far this new year not leaving much time for commenting, just fly-bys (lurking) is pretty much it last week. Thanks to all of you as I was able to stay informed as to what’s going on. Link below for the poll. Have a good weekend TPWers and of course a thank … Continue reading →
The Bernie Sanders campaign’s “America” ad made viewers happiest of any advertisement of the 2016 presidential election, a Vanderbilt University study has found. Set to the titular Simon and Garfunkel song, “America,” the ad showed footage from Sanders’ rallies interspersed with clips of Americans from various walks of life. It does not address any policy issues. The minute-long ad proved popular across party lines, with even 51 percent of Republican viewers saying the Sanders team should play the ad often. While other campaigns, including those of Hillary Clinton, John Kasich, and Donald Trump, did air ads that produced mostly positive … Continue reading →
http://www.vox.com/culture/2016/12/31/14024262/star-wars-political-alt-right-backlash Hopefully the Link works but it seems we have a few Sci-Fi TPW’ers so thought I would pass this article along. What do you think about Sci Fi and politics? Two of my Favs, Star Trek and Star Wars. Star Trek over the course of the franchise have told some wonderful stories about what was going on in the world socially/politically when an particular series was running. From the TOS “Let that be your last battlefield” stuck with me when I was about 9 or 10 as the assignation of MLK was very fresh in my young mind back … Continue reading →
No politics today or tomorrow just my boys coming home for Christmas and looking forward to spending the next couple days with them. Mrs. wi58 it in cooking mode so trying to stay out of her kitchen :). I have a tendancy to graze while she’s cooking. So Merry Christmas to all our fellow TPWers.
Hello everyone after the long weekend time to get back to a normal week. Did you over eat? Over shop? Deer Hunt which is yuge in WI, or binge watch on football? I pretty much was on the sidelines for politics this long weekend with just checking in for the most part reading W/O commenting so thanks to all whom posted this long weekend. … Continue reading →
Article by Catlin Johnstone Caitlin Johnstone | Professional Updated 19 Nov 2016 http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/dems-move-leverage-bernie-sanders-popularity-party-regroups/story?id=43614247 Corporate media seems to think that Bernie Sanders can be used to lure the progressive revolution back into the fold. They are wrong ABC News, whose staff were seen repeatedly colluding with the Clinton campaign in leaked documents released by WikiLeaks, is now openly asserting that the Democratic establishment has got Bernie Sanders in its pocket, which means they’ll be able to “leverage” his support to “regroup” the party. The opening sentence of the article in question, which I swear I am not making up, begins as follows: … Continue reading →
. Good morning all just wanted to get the ball rolling this am. The neo libs are scrambling to keep their minority senate jobs after what i call another day that will live in infamy. Paul Ryan is already drooling about getting rid of medicare as we know it –can you say voucher boys and girls? Trump and McConnell already disagree about congress priorities when they meet once hes in office. Trump spoke of keeping the age of 26 for you kids to stay on your insurance and the pre existing law but no word of the cap on benefits … Continue reading →
How much will the American middle class lose under a full Republican congress and president? They will hit the ground running on 1/22/17 passing every anti progressive bill they can for the next 2 years. This happened in WI once Walker had full control. Im hoping that the senate Dems might be able to slow them down a little. Feel free to add to the list and add your own thoughts, I was hoping for a split in the congress but that didn’t even happen. Trump supporters have talked about draining the swamp –to funny as they re-elected the same … Continue reading →
Found this over at Reddit “Way of the Bern” By an author named AT61. The author encouraged anyone to pass it along and since I found it interesting I’m doing just that. Their are a lot of links as well to follow up on. It does make me wonder it we truly need election monitors in the USA. Anyway have a good day fellow TPW ers THEY CAN GENERATE ELECTRONIC BLANK BALLOTS AND REMOTELY MARK THEM. IT WILL BE UNDETECTABLE. THEY HAVE CONTROL OVER REGISTRATION DATABASES. THEY CONTROL THE ENTIRE VOTE BY MAIL SYSTEM. THEY INFILTRATED CONGRESS TO PASS NECESSARY … Continue reading →
Have we allowed the USA to become a combination of fascist and corporate control? I added my opinions in bold Found this article shortly after Walker was elected in WI my apologies for not remembering the author. The cliché that people and nations learn from history is not only overused, but also overestimated; often we fail to learn from history, or draw the wrong conclusions. Sadly, historical amnesia is the norm. We are two-and-a-half generations removed from the horrors of Nazi Germany, although constant reminders jog the consciousness. German and Italian fascism form the historical models that define this twisted … Continue reading →
