Here’s a snapshot of the remarkable citizens driving this movement for change in #NY19. Jeff Beals went out to a recent #FasoFriday in Kingston and saw friends old and new, all driven by different outrages to push for one goal: winning back our seat in Congress from corporate power and corrupt lobbying groups. We’re going to make our government work for working people again
I am a little late with this but I think Beals is a great candidate and hope that someone out there on the internets who wouldnt have seen it… somehow makes their way here and does. It would be even better if that person could vote for him, and if not… send a little cash.
Jane O’Meara Sanders, the wife of Bernie Sanders, joined Maura Derrane and Dáithí Ó Sé on the Today show.
Dr Sanders was speaking ahead of her talk at Limerick’s Concert Hall as part of an Irish American festival.
She revealed that Bernie’s campaign was not supported by Harvey Weinstein, a well-known supporter of the Democratic party, and said that Weinstein advised the Clinton campaign on how to defeat her husband.
On whether or not Bernie would run for president in 2020 when he is 77 years of age, she simply said that they believe “age is just a number”.

We joined workers in Hyde Park yesterday to speak out against another act of corporate greed – the Cuilinary Institute of America is firing 17 committed union workers and replacing them with low-wage, no-future contract labor. Why? It’s a renown school that enjoys not-for-profit status and dispenses millions in executive compensation. This is about greed and shattered lived. We must confront corporate greed with people power
Just in case you have forgotten, here are some of Jeff’s priorities:
We must #UniteNY19 behind a platform that benefits the vast majority of our citizens. I’ve brought people together before as a U.S. diplomat. Now I want to unite us here at home for these causes:
>*Unite to provide Medicare for all.
*Unite to lower prescription drug prices.
*Unite to increase Social Security benefits.
*Unite to rebuild our infrastructure.
*Unite to develop rural jobs, small businesses and local farms.
*Unite to fight income inequality and a rigged economy.
*Unite to make public education tuition free.
*Unite to end racial injustice, bigotry and violence.
*Unite to protect women’s reproductive health.
*Unite for a foreign policy that puts diplomacy over endless war.
Good morning friends and a big thank you to those who keep us alive over the weekends! I will ever so slowly encourage you to post your own material as well as create posts that show how easy this can be done… but in the meantime today’s news roundup is in the comments. There is a lot of material to cover including:
*Lots of people (Booker, Whitehouse, etc) are piling onto Bernie’s single payer bill
*Sanders to head back to California
*It’s time to end the myth that black voters don’t like Bernie Sanders
*Water Protector/Pipeline news
*Draft Bernie Events & Videos
* the 39 Senate Democrats (and Angus King) Still Not Backing Medicare For All
*Progressive Candidate updates & more
So.. see you on the other side!

From Beals For Congress:
I’m a teacher and former diplomat who served with distinction in Iraq, and my family has had a farm in the Hudson Valley since I was a boy.
We the people of New York’s 19th District are in the fight of our lives. We’ve formed a grassroots uprising that has shaken the powers that be. After organizing and rallying in our movement, I’m leading a people’s campaign to win us back our voice in Congress. This is not my first fight or my first turn to government service. I’ve been fighting for our country and what I believe in all my life.
After my service overseas, I returned to my family’s farm here in the Hudson Valley to raise my family, raise livestock and answer a call to teach. Today I live in Woodstock where my wife Suhayr and I both teach and our two sons attend school.
From here in our home in the Hudson Valley – and in homes with supporters around the district – we are putting together a people’s campaign to unite our community and take our fight to the Capitol. We’re doing it because we refuse to stand by while the America we were raised to believe in is weakened by incompetence and dishonesty at the top. The very wealthiest in our country are manipulating our system to steal from the rest of us and hollow out the American Dream. We won’t give up on that dream. It’s the dream of equal opportunity for ourselves, a good education for our children, a living wage for our workers, a clean environment, and health care for our sick and our elderly.
I used to believe democracy was something we fight for overseas. Today, I believe we have to fight for our democracy here at home. We’re uniting for that fight now. I hope you’ll join us.
Beals is running on a platform that I think most of us here could agree with:
Unite to provide Medicare for all.
Unite to lower prescription drug prices.
Unite to increase Social Security benefits.
Unite to rebuild our infrastructure.
Unite to develop rural jobs, small businesses and local farms.
Unite to fight income inequality and a rigged economy.
Unite to make public education tuition free.
Unite to face climate change with science and sustainable energy.
Unite to end racial injustice, bigotry and violence.
Unite to protect women’s reproductive health.
