Today the Democratic Party filed a lawsuit against The Russian Federation, along with a long list of other defendants.
Yes, you heard that right. The DNC just sued the country of Russia.
WASHINGTON — The Democratic National Committee filed a lawsuit Friday against the Russian government, the Trump campaign and WikiLeaks, alleging they conspired to influence the 2016 election in favor of President Trump.
The lawsuit alleges that Russia found a “willing and active partner” in the Trump campaign, which shared the goals of hurting the Democratic Party and electing Donald Trump. It says representatives of the three groups remained in contact with each other as the cyberattack was being carried out.
“This constituted an act of unprecedented treachery: the campaign of a nominee for President of the United States in league with a hostile foreign power to bolster its own chance to win the presidency,” DNC Chair Tom Perez said in a statement Friday.
(Among the) things that I would like to know:
- Whose idea was this?
- What is the DNC trying to achieve with this?
- What effect will this have on the 2018 midterms?
- Is this the best use of DNC’s limited funds??
- Will this backfire on the party, perhaps spectacularly?
- Will this get more Democrats elected???
The actual sixty-six page filing can be viewed here.
In my opinion, I think this is foolish, reckless, a sinful waste of precious time and resources, will ultimately prove to be counter-productive (assuming the DNC is actually trying to win elections, that is), and will only hurt the hard-working new candidates out there trying to do positive and constructive things. Things that this country, and the planet, need desperately.
I’m with Kyle on this one:
What a disgusting PR stunt at a time when we’re bombing 8 countries, income inequality is at a record high and climate change is ruining future prospects for humanity. Dems suck all the air out of the room with dangerous garbage conspiracy mongering.

Is this legal circus what we all really need right now?
