The media did its best to make Trump the Republican candidate with all its free air time. It also did its best to keep Bernie’s popular positions from getting equal opportunity.

The “corporate advertising front” runs the message on cable news. And they also run some blogs, as we all know has happened over at TOP.

It’s discouraging that we all can see what happened, and can’t do a thing about it. Inspiring journalist students do need to know the obstacles they face in the field they are entering, especially if they want this nation to change progressively. We are all depending on this new generation to make positive future changes, and we all have to help them be courageous and raise the bar towards truth-telling.

Nice interview. Thanks!

We have a chance – via the internets, via new delivery systems, via well-earned cynicism re what passes for corporate-dictated news these past decades – for the tail-end of this + the next generation to re-discover and recover some of the best principles & tenets of honorable journalism.

The fact that we/they now have the anger & discernment to do something about it, decide how to consume and filter it, and easily distribute it is one of the greatest gifts of possibility. Transparency and open transmittal is an amazing opportunity.

I cross my fingers every day that the days of passively receiving and accepting pre-packaged, approved corporate news will soon be a sorry footnote… socially, politically and intellectually unacceptable.

As usual, well said!

Yes!

We must also work tirelessly to ensure that these new means of delivery remain protected from corporations who want to control and regulate them to their own benefit, just as they do television, radio, and much of our printed media (e.g. the ongoing fight to maintain net neutrality; we win battles but I don’t think the war will ever really be over).

Very good interview! And excellent points about how mainstream media has essentially sabotaged its future by discrediting itself, particularly with younger viewers who are heading in droves to alternative media.

Good one.

At the start of the primaries Bernie crowds were twice or more as large as Trumps but received no media attention while even MSNBC shows like Chris Matthews and Hayes would cut away to Trump rallies for exceptionally long durations.
