This edit is for humphrey:
When folks stand together against a rigged system, they can forge a politics that can transform a city, a nation, and maybe the world.

Much strength to you all.
@deblarian My step daughter and her mom went to vote in Berkeley today and said that it was a packed house with a strong Bernie slant. 💪

I looked up AD55 as those results really stood out, and sure enough that district is considered ‘Safe Republican’ and, indeed, the Republican prevailed last year with Phillip Chen (R) beating Gregg Fritchle (D) 58% to 42%. But considering that Fritchle, a social worker, was at such a disadvantage money-wise, I’d say he did pretty well:
A pro-business, no-new-taxes Republican with a 46-to-1 fundraising advantage over his Democratic opponent won the race to fill a seat being vacated in the 55th Assembly District, according to state figures.
One can only wonder whether Fritchle could have pulled it off with just a little more support!
More of these meetings/elections are taking place in California today. This one just got started. It looks like a decent turnout here too with quite a few people standing:
