Reggie has lived in Lexington since he was 14 when his mother returned home after the death of his father. He graduated from Bryan Station High School, Dartmouth College, and Harvard Law School.
For Reggie, there was only one place to settle and raise a family – Kentucky. Reggie and his wife, Lynda are the parents of three grown children, who now have successful careers and families of their own. The Thomas family has been active in St. Paul A.M.E. for over 35 years. In 2015, Lynda passed away after a prolonged battle with cancer.
A firm believer in the importance of public education, Reggie serves as an Assistant Professor at Kentucky State University, and previously taught as an Assistant Professor at the University of Kentucky College of Law. He devotes much of his volunteer time to Fayette County Schools and Bluegrass Community and Technical College.
In 2013, Reggie was elected to the Kentucky State Senate, where he represents the 13th district by advocating for public education, women’s rights, LGBTQ rights, and raising the minimum wage.
