My cell reception is pretty spotty out in the rural areas but we’ll be settling down for some rest/relaxation tomorrow afternoon at a place with wifi and all the works so I’ll use that time to get some pictures posted. Ive been wearing my Beto shirts in my journeys and have gotten pretty good feedback in both west texas and out of state!

LieparDestin

I know some of you arent quite sold on Beals and I can understand that, but I admit to trusting his ‘progressiveness’ quite a bit given all the media I’ve taken in, videos/debates watched, and some conversations on twitter. Would certainly hate to be wrong but am hoping I’m right and he does well.

Im sure the articles been posted (and maybe even the tweet) but I think the best thing about this is the picture used by newsweek in the tweet. Its a meme killer.

Trump considering clemency for Blagojevich, Stewart

President Trump on Thursday said he is considering commuting the sentence of former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich (D) and pardoning TV personality Martha Stewart.

Trump’s comments come hours after he pardoned conservative commentator Dinesh D’Souza, who pleaded guilty to a felony campaign finance violation. Last week, the president offered a posthumous pardon for the boxer Jack Johnson.

Trump told reporters in his private cabin aboard Air Force One he believes Blagojevich was “being stupid” but added that “every other politician” has done it and that his sentence is excessive.

“Eighteen years is, I think, really unfair,” Trump said, misstating the length of his prison term. “It’s a Democrat. You know D’Souza’s a Republican. And I’m seriously thinking about it.”

Benny

If Trump thinks this will help win some indie voters in IL, it ain’t happening.

Bill Clinton disputes Dem senator’s claim that he should have resigned after Lewinsky scandal

Former President Bill Clinton waved off Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand’s (D-N.Y.) assertion that he should have stepped down after his inappropriate relationship with White House intern Monica Lewinsky went public.

In an interview on “CBS Sunday Morning” set to air this week, Clinton said Gillibrand’s comment, which appeared in an interview with The New York Times last year, did not take into account the “context” of his decision to stay in office.

“You have to really ignore what the context was,” Clinton told CBS’s Mo Rocca. “But, you know, she’s living in a different context. And she did it for different reasons. But I just disagree with her.”

..

In his interview with CBS, Clinton says he knew the impeachment would not succeed.

“It wasn’t a pleasant experience,” he said. “But it was a fight that I was glad to undertake after the elections, when the people had solidly told, by two-thirds or more, the Republicans to stop it. They knew there was nothing impeachable. And so, we fought it to the end. And I’m glad.”

While I have a couple minutes I’ll rant about the story going around about Trumps campaign hiring the leader of ‘black men for bernie’ to campaign for him. To me thats just good strategy and not reflective of Sanders supporters as a whole as some of course make it out to be. They turned ‘enemies’ into allies. If the Clinton campaign had reached out to leading promoters of Bernie instead of continuing to trash them/shut them out at the DNC, etc etc.., things may have been very different. I know after the BNR I never heard from them (and to be fair, Bernie’s either).

The great fact about the Sanders Campaign are the issues. He ran on them and ‘walked the walk.’ There are more choices to vote for this year. Medicare for All, Climate Change, Eliminating horrendous college debt, Restore a Progressive Income Tax Policy, Legalize Pot and take it off the Controlled Substance List–young folks are running on these issues at all political levels. They are winning, too. 🙂

Jamarl’s perspective on the “black men for Bernie” issue.

jcitybone

While I don’t see any connection between this individual’s actions and the rest of Bernie’s supporters, I have no use for anyone who advocated for Bernie and then turned around to advocate for that racist, misogynist, xenophobic, scumbag Trump.

wi60

Pretty much it for me–“Many of Sanders’ followers will support no one else — unless and until he tells them too.” $hillary didn’t count!!!!

jcitybone

I’m sure if he doesn’t run for president, he’ll get behind someone. He’s not going to stay on the sidelines.

I just cant imagine him not running, 2016 was the set up and now is the time, hes worked his whole life to this point on these issues and the last 3 to get to this point with the public, i cant imagine he could even stop himself from trying.

I am certainly not a fan of Nancy Pelosi but the nerve of this amazes me.

http://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/390119-white-house-calls-on-pelosi-to-condemn-dem-ad-comparing-trump-to-bin-laden

The White House is slamming a Democratic House hopeful one day after the Virginia candidate, a military veteran, released an ad comparing President Trump to Osama bin Laden.

The administration called on House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to denounce Dan Helmer, who is running against Rep. Barbara Comstock (R).

“The message sent in a campaign ad from a congressional candidate from Virginia is nothing short of reprehensible. Leaders from across the political spectrum — starting with Leader Pelosi — must swiftly condemn this abhorrent message,” said Raj Shah, a White House spokesman.
Helmer’s ad calls Trump the “greatest threat to our Democracy” since bin Laden, the founder of al-Qaeda who was killed by U.S. special forces in 2011.

This comes after Trump assailed Pelosi this week.

President Trump took a shot at House Minority Leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi during a rally in Nashville, Tennesee on Tuesday night.

Trump slammed former Tennessee Gov. Phil Bredesen, a Democrat, calling him a “total tool” of Democratic leaders while attempting to boost his Republican challenger Rep. Marsha Blackburn.

While campaigning for Blackburn, who is running for U.S. Senate, Trump slammed Democratic leaders, labeling Bredesen, a Democrat in the running to replace retiring Sen. Bob Corker, as an “absolute total tool of Chuck Schumer and, of course, the MS-13 lover Nancy Pelosi.”

LOL Republicans have long run outrageous ads. Poor snowflake Trump

My my. Isn’t the government of Puerto Rico just grand?

I sure that this is the best way to correct ongoing problems.

How are your tariffs working now Bully in Chief?

https://www.thestar.com/news/canada/2018/05/31/us-will-hit-canada-with-steel-and-aluminum-tariffs-as-of-midnight-tonight.html

OTTAWA— Canada hit back at U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday by announcing tariffs on dozens of U.S. products in retaliation for American steel and aluminum tariffs that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau called a “turning point in Canada-U.S. relations.”

Trudeau said Trump’s tariffs, imposed on supposed national security grounds after NAFTA negotiations stalled, were “totally unacceptable” and “an affront” to a country whose soldiers have fought and died with American soldiers.

“We have to believe at some point common sense will prevail. But we see no sign of that in the U.S. action today,” Trudeau said.

http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/trudeau-nafta-sunset-meeting-1.4686232

Justin Trudeau says he abandoned a proposed meeting with Donald Trump in Washington this week after the White House insisted that the prime minister first agree to a five-year “sunset clause” in a renegotiated North American Free Trade Agreement.

Trudeau told the anecdote Thursday during a media briefing where he and Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland were outlining the Canadian response to punishing U.S. tariffs on steel and aluminum imports.

With the NAFTA talks seeming close to a possible breakthrough, Trudeau says he suggested to the U.S. president last Friday that they sit down with Mexico’s Enrique Pena Nieto and talk about reaching a deal.

Then on Tuesday, Vice-President Mike Pence called to say the White House would host the meeting — but on one condition.
“I had to agree to a sunset clause in NAFTA, which is to say every five years, NAFTA would come to an end unless the parties decided to renew it, which is completely unacceptable to us,” he said.
“So I answered that, unfortunately, if that was a precondition to our visit, I was unable to accept — and so we did not go to Washington for that day of negotiations.”

Mexico didn’t want to be left out.

https://www.theglobeandmail.com/business/article-mexico-hits-back-at-us-steel-aluminum-tariffs-with-equivalent/

Mexico retaliated almost immediately against U.S. tariffs on steel and aluminum on Thursday, focusing on products from congressional districts President Donald Trump’s Republican party is fighting to retain in November elections.

The Mexican measures target pork legs, apples, grapes and cheeses as well as steel – products from U.S. heartland states that supported Trump in the 2016 election. The country reacted quickly after Washington said in the morning it was moving ahead with tariffs on aluminum and steel imports from Canada, Mexico and the European Union.

Mexico said it was imposing wide–ranging “equivalent” measures, ratcheting up tensions during talks with Washington to renegotiate NAFTA and ahead of the U.S. mid-term elections. The measures will be in place until the U.S. government eliminates its tariffs, the ministry said.
