I had foot surgery on Monday. Have to lay up as much as possible. We ordered turkey dinners from a local place, which worked out splendidly.

Benny’s Bar is now open.

You get well soon! 🙂 Hubster cooked a small turkey on the grill and I made a couple of side dishes. We watched a dog show, and I caught a few minutes of NFL football. Just us and the Booger Bs. LOL. The 13″ Dog Show Beagle was a close image to what our male looks like. 🙂 Let’s see…I’ll order a margarita for a change. Ho-Ho. 🙂 That’s for later on today. I know I’m not gonna be anywhere near a Mall today!!

wi64

O’Fashioned’s were on the menu yesterday. I never go anywhere near a walmart or a mall on this friday -to many crazed people fighting over cheap tech that will be returned in a few months. Beautiful weather for the weekend spent most of the day prepping the house for winter and some Christmas decorations out. No you wont see mine from earth orbit :). The last few years its been unseasonably cold and snowy making it a pain to do anything out side.

Here’s to a fast recovery Benny 🥃🥃

“Money is speech, my friend.” And Howie Klein continues to report on the big money mouths in our corrupt “democracy”.
Will Any Corrupt Politicians Wind Up In Prison With Sugar Daddy Sam Bankman-Madoff? Not A Chance!

Let me tell you a brutal story. After Oregon was given a 6th congressional district, local Democrats— and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus— got behind a well-qualified state legislator, Andrea Salinas. The normal thing for the DCCC and Pelosi’s SuperPAC to have done would be to either stay neutral in the primary or support Salinas. But something very strange happened. After Sam Bankman-Fried contributed around $12 million to the campaign a random person he is rumored to have in his pocket, some guy named Carrick Flynn, he directed Pelosi to spend a million dollars on Flynn. She did. Eventually Salinas won the primary by a wide margin but all that money spent against her in the primary made it harder for her to beat Republican Mike Erickson in the general. She did but by just two-and-a-half points in a district with a D+7 partisan lean. Pelosi has never publicly addressed why she spent a million dollars supporting Flynn— and she never will.

Sam Bankman-Greed and his crypto-cronies looted over a billion dollars— perhaps way over a billion dollars— from FTX clients and investors. A great deal of that money went into bribing eager politicians— from both corrupt political parties. 8 of those bribes were for over $2 million each:

Protect Our Future PAC (Bankman-Freed’s personal top vehicle for bribing politicians)- $28 million

American Dream Federal Action (FTX’s vehicle for bribing right-wing Republicans)- $15 million

Pelosi’s House Majority PAC- $6 million

GMI PAC (a crypto-industry vehicle for buying politicians)- $4,051,947

Schumer’s Senate Majority PAC- $3 million

McCarthy’s Congressional Leadership Fund- $2,750,000

McConnell’s Senate Leadership Fund- $2,500,000

EMILY’s List- $2,250,000

There’s lots more.

Some sports figures lost money on this by endorsing it and unfortunately a lot of fans lost everything B/C if its good enough for a sports star to invest in it must be safe to do mentaility. They have more avenues to recorver but not the average fan.

Aint…there are so many white collar crooks and bribed politicos here, trying to find an honest one like the Bernster is like looking for the proverbial needle in a very yuge haystack. Disgusted doesn’t begin to describe how I feel. 🙁

Sad, really just pathetically sad. I’m glad my folks are dead. My father would be horrified, and he was an Eisenhower Republican. He never voted for them again when Trick the Dick Nixon showed up. He hated Nixon. Mom was a rock solid Demo and an early ERAer. 🙂

Florida now being fairly uncompetitive for Dems so no need to bend over backwards to the conservative Cuban etc. community there. Hopefully, relations with Cuba can improve.

orlbucfan

Younger Cubans and their Hispanic co-horts are not as conservative. That includes the ones becoming US citizens.

wi64

A little education from the Dems running down thier concerning what social democracy is an how it will help them. R’s continue to throw out thier go to scare word Socialism and you’ll end up like Venezuela if you vote for a Dem. Two totally opposite forms of Govt.

https://circle.tufts.edu/2022-election-center#youth-turnout-second-highest-in-last-three-decades

Youth Turnout Second-Highest in Last Three Decades

We estimate that 27% of youth (ages 18-29) cast a ballot in 2022, making this the midterm election with the second-highest youth voter turnout in almost three decades. We also estimate that youth turnout was even higher in some battleground states.

After hovering around 20% turnout in midterm elections since the 1990s, young people shifted that trend in 2018 and largely maintained that trend in 2022, with more than a quarter of young people casting a ballot. Youth are increasing their electoral participation, leading movements, and making their voices heard on key issues that affect their communities.

CIRCLE also estimates that, in a group of nine electorally competitive states for which exit poll data is available (FL, GA, MI, NC, NH, NV, OH, PA, WI), the aggregate youth voter turnout was 31%.

Youth Turnout Second-Highest in Last Three Decades

Youth Prefer Democrats by 28-Point Margin

According to the Edison Research National Election Pool exit poll, the national youth vote choice for the U.S. House of Representatives was 63% for Democrats, 35% for Republicans. That’s almost identical to 2020, when youth preferred Democrats to Republicans by 62% to 36%, and a small shift in favor of Republicans from the previous midterm: in 2018, the youth vote between Democrats and Republicans was 67% to 32%—which was the largest margin ever for Democrats among young voters.

According to this exit poll data, youth ages 18-29 are the only age group in which a strong majority supported Democrats. Voters ages 30-44 split their votes nearly evenly 51%-47% between Democrats and Republicans, while older voters favored the GOP. The youth share of all votes cast is 12%, on par with the 13% youth share from the 2018 midterm election.

Celebrating Charles Schulz’s 100th birthday. Great diary from a progressive friend there.

One of my favorite tributes there—

Schulz was a huge proponent of women in sports. This comic was from the 70s. Groundbreaking for that time.
