New York’s Working Families Party cleared the threshold to keep its automatic ballot line.
A progressive party in New York appears poised to retain its automatic ballot line, overcoming new barriers backed by the state’s Democratic governor, Andrew M. Cuomo.
According to late Tuesday night voter tallies, at least 283,000 New Yorkers voted for Joseph R. Biden Jr. and Kamala Harris on the Working Families Party line, amounting to 4.5 percent of all votes cast in the presidential election.
Those numbers far exceed the state’s new thresholds for third-party ballot access. According to the new rules, a third party must garner 130,000 votes in a presidential election, or 2 percent of the total vote — whichever is higher — if that party wants to retain its ballot line.
The previous threshold was 50,000 votes in a race for governor.
The Working Families Party has sparred with Mr. Cuomo in recent years. The new rules posed such a risk to the party’s electoral influence that it directed significant financial resources away from competitive races and toward preserving its ballot line.
“Working people and Black and brown communities are historically challenged when we grow in power — and the threat to our ballot line is no different,” Sochie Nnaemeka, the Working Families Party’s state director for New York, said in a statement Tuesday night. “What’s clear, though, is our campaign to protect the ballot line has only resulted in a stronger, more united progressive movement in New York State.”

Well, there is no blue wave, let alone a tsunami. How can this be??? Looks better for the house at this point, senate still a tossup. And Dump is definitely looking stronger. Evidently the Rs couldn’t bring themselves to vote D in the end, as we should have predicted.
The DNC has got to go. They put up a loser – he was losing in the primaries badly – and squashed the leader. Talked about how they’d smear him for being a socialist. Well, guess what? They smeared Biden for being a socialist. Maybe the real deal would have won, eh? One thing they better not do is blame the Bernie Bros again. This time the whole catastrophe is on Obama’s hands.
Bernie campaigned valiantly for Biden, while Biden mumbled and stumbled – when he appeared at all, and if he’d been campaigning for himself, people would have listened. I paid no attention to Bernie’s pleas on Biden’s behalf, and I’m glad I voted Green. Trump took Arkansas with over 60% – again.
This whole thing sucks, and I’m scared to think of what’s coming. And the Dems won’t do us any favors, they’ll just fold like always.
Maybe the absentee ballots will pull it off, but I ain’t holding my breath.
The only blue wave I’ve seen in my state ( Mi. ) is in the county that I live in.

Biden has taken the lead by 18,600 votes in Wisconsin. Still votes left to count in Milwaukee. These last votes were mail in and heavily blue even in counties that went red. Looks likely that Biden will win.
Like I said in my OT, I am so angry and disgusted. I have opposed these cretins, volunteered, gone beyond the call of duty to vote and preserve our Democracy. When will things finally swing our way? When will these fascists aholes finally be held to account?🤮
T and R, Ms. Benny!! You beat me. 😊☮️👍 Two OTs will probably be useful today so our brethren can post and vent.
The four Democratic congresswomen of ‘the Squad’ all win re-election.
She did her job, keep the consultant class paid. Sincerely hope no progressives wasted any of their hopes on her. Where is the activist energy in the Kentucky Democratic Party?
