THANK YOU PHILADELPHIA! We've got two days left until the midterm elections. It's going to be close. In the next few days, I am asking you to do everything you can to help us get out the vote. pic.twitter.com/ktVmcj7WFJ
THANK YOU to the hundreds of people who braved the rain to join us this afternoon in Pittsburgh. Make no mistake, if young people come out to vote in decent numbers this Tuesday, we're going to transform this country. Let's get it done. pic.twitter.com/96XAJUtU9D
Senator Bernie Sanders and state Rep. Summer Lee didn’t just share a stage Sunday on the South Side: They underscored their common ideologies.
Mr. Sanders, who held a second rally later in the day at Schenley Plaza, followed a roughly 10-minute speech from Ms. Lee in which she laid out a list of “maybe you’re here because” political issues. For his eight or so minutes, Mr. Sanders structured his address via “Summer understands” hot buttons.
The shared talking points, delivered at the Pittsburgh Federation of Teachers’ headquarters on the South Side, were likely familiar to supporters of either — free higher public education, a livable minimum wage, the importance of the labor movement, health care for all — served with an urgency driven by the looming Election Day.
“If there was ever a time in American history where we needed leadership in the Congress to say, we’re going to stand with working families, we’re going to create a government and nation that work for all, not just the few, this is that moment. Summer is that candidate,” Mr. Sanders said.
Ms. Lee, in introducing Mr. Sanders, noted that the senator “has been in this fight way longer than me” — she’s in her mid-30s — and that she was where she is “because of the people who came before us and forged paths for us.”
Like Mr. Sanders, Mr. Lee nodded often to the David vs. Goliath struggle inherent in their fight.
“Do you want power for the people, or power for the corporations?”
As it happened, Mr. Sanders, long a fan of anthemic songs, walked to the podium at Schenley to John Lennon’s “Power to the People.” At that event, he rallied more generally to get Pittsburghers to the polls to vote for Ms. Lee and Lt. Gov. John Fetterman, who is running for a U.S. Senate seat.
On the South Side, the senator began his speech with a cute opener (and possible a nod to climate change, which he did mention later): In driving from his hotel, he commented on the 70-degree day. “I said, here it is, early November, and it’s a summer day. Well, it is a Summer day! We’re going to elect Summer Lee.”
One of the first things on her to-do list, after she’s elected, he noted, “will be to overturn this damn Citizens United Supreme Court decision and move to public funding of elections.”
I am a educated Beatles fan. John Lennon started writing “Imagine” before he ever met no-talent Ono. It was his answer to Paul Macca’s “Yesterday.” I will never forgive him for that magnificent tune not being recorded with the Beatles and George Martin. That joke video of him sitting at the white piano looking emaciated, and Ono Looking like god-knows-what opening the windows insults the lyrics. That recording needed about 24 B-12 shots. 🙁
So it was never in the cards to campaign for Fetterman nor Barnes, I guess they were worried about Bernie’s “socialism” image. The only person he stumped for was Summer Lee in the midwest.
I guess the constant message of Socialism by the R’s referring to Bernie may have had an effect. Its to bad that a large number of the populace doesnt understand what Democratic socialism is. All they hear is that word socialism and equate it to Venezuela’s form of Govt. the result of the dumbing down of a lot of people in this country. They fail to realize that The Nordic model of social democracy represents perhaps the most effective real world implementation of socialist principles. The Scandinavian nations of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden adhere to policies that combine free market capitalism with extensive public works, including free healthcare, free education, a comprehensive welfare state, and high percentages of unionized workers. This approach essentially combines the social consciousness of socialism with the private ownership and competitive opportunity of capitalism. Medicare/SS is one of the largest socialist programs on the planet
And Sanders said it was especially important to support Lee amid the UDP attacks. While most of the group’s activities are backed by AIPAC, which has its own extensive network of donors, it also has been supported by individuals tied to a slew of hedge funds and other investment firsm.
“I think it is a sad state of affairs when a handful of billionaires are spending hundreds and hundreds of millions of dollars trying to defeat candidates like Summer Lee,” Sanders said. “In the next couple days, I hope people fight back and say, ‘You know what? This nation belongs to all of us and not just a handful of billionaires.’”
UDP ads don’t mention Israel — a subject that Lee has barely discussed in her political career — and Sanders said that proves “the Israel issue is not the issue. it’s just a smokescreen. This is simply one more instance where billionaires are protecting their own personal interest.”
Still, the Vermont Senator, who is Jewish, said he worries it may be bad for Israel if its advocates in the U.S. are used as cover for those other interests.
“I really do” worry, he said. He added that he has “strong concerns” about a rightward turn in Israel, where former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is poised to assemble a new government with support from the far right. “We can have that debate. But the fact that AIPAC is now getting involved in issues and campaigns which have nothing to do with Israel … that’s bad news.”
But “our job right now,” he said, is to address the fact that “so many working people, so many elderly people, so many kids are hurting. Let’s stand with those folks.”
Like I’ve said, the idiotic Israeli people voting in Netanyaboob for the 3rd time won’t sit well with a lot of American Jews. Wait until you see his FRightwingnut coalition!!
I've got news for the election-denying Republicans across this country — in a democracy, sometimes you're gonna lose. Don't be a whiner. Have the guts to stand up and say, "I lost." pic.twitter.com/1dCtEqkXC3
Terrific @austinahlman profile of Jamie McLeod-Skinner that's really about progressive politics in this midterms, the limits of people power amid big money and predetermined narratives, and who will win out. Really great stuff.https://t.co/4H4WsaHHwH
To me a glorfied keep up with the Jones or one up them. Theirs always a bigger fish as it were.
phatkhat
Not to mention the emissions from those big V-8s. We do have a V8 Ford F150 with 4WD. BUT. We hardly ever drive it. We use it for hauling stuff and in bad weather. We may need it more where we’re going, LOL.
He’s shit the bed monetarily, but he’s not totally stupid. The advantage of GOP being voted in is that they will push for more tax cuts and the Dems will go right along.
“We need you to donate $25 in the next 25 seconds, otherwise the fate of James Carville is at stake—he’s going to blow himself to bits and it will be all your fault,” https://t.co/uIjUJfBDQc
T and R, jcb!! ☮️🙂👍 Talk about stupid. Hubster played me a CNN link earlier today of a DeSh#tface ad. It literally had the voice of god rumbling that on the 8th day of creation, DeSh#tface was anointed by the almighty to be re-elected. I kid you not. It was taken down, but not before how many idiots saw it. The stupid, it burns.😡

Could this be worse? This is the Winner for 2022’s Worst Midterms Campaign Ad
Aint…this is the one. Thanks!! That isn’t even a decent Paul Harvey impersonation. 🙁 You see why I’m so embarrassed by being a long time (next to a native) Floridian. Words almost fail me. Feldman is hitting the nail right on the head. DeSh#tface is an evil, lying, POS bully, not a fighter. But man, this dumbed down, broken, corrupt country eats the stupid up. For real.
I feel your pain Orl, from a once proud progressive state with Forward as a motto to a regressive gerrymandered state. Embarrassed to the the max and a profound sadness of what we now are.
Election eve, “I’ve got a bad feeling about this” If only the Dems had a better track record on voting Midterms i’d be more confident. but 🤞🤞🤞🤞!!!!!! My vote was confimed about 10 days ago so its Tom Petty chorus time;
The waiting is the hardest part Every day you see one more card You take it on faith, you take it to the heart The waiting is the hardest part 🙂
Thanks again to @BarackObama for coming to #PA12 and reminding folks that we can fight through the politics of fear & division and deliver the multiracial, multigenerational future we all deserve this Election Day. pic.twitter.com/6NcHeQAkvt
This is the second data guy that I’ve seen on this podcast in the last week and they both give me hope for the dems. The segment starts at about the 50-minute mark and ends about the 27-minute mark.
LIVE: Early Midterm Election data shows HUGE EARLY LEAD for Democrats + MORE
If the young folks represented by these dudes turn out en masse, then we have a reason to celebrate. The FL Media is doing everything it can to let us know that it will be a yuge GOPuke wipeout. No lie.
The Trib reports mail-in balloting is up in IL, but early vote down overall compared to 2018
As of early Monday, the Illinois State Board of Elections reported that nearly 1.2 million of the state’s more than 8.7 million registered voters cast early ballots either by mail or at in-person voting sites. With one day to go, that’s down compared with 2018 figures when more than 1.56 million voted early and mailed-in their ballots. However, the number of returned mail-in ballots in 2022 are up compared to 2018 with more than 544,000 having been returned so far this year compared with 427,000 total in 2018.
In Chicago, as of Sunday night, 237,219 ballots, either vote-by-mail or in-person early votes had been cast, down about 37,000 from a similar time frame in the 2018 midterms, the Chicago Board of Elections said.
It will be interesting to see how many will be taking advantage of the state holiday tomorrow for voting. I think this was voted in by the Legislature as a test to see if more citizens, especially those in college, would take advantage of such an opportunity.
LOL. SPM decided to run in NY17 instead of my NY18 (Pat Ryan) because it was slightly more Dem leaning. (He does live now in 17 right across the 18 border.) 18 is rated lean Dem but 17 is only rated toss up. (I do think he and Josh Riley in NY19 are going to win though). I can’t wait to get Lee Zeldin and all those other Republican jokers’ lying crime ads off the air here in NY!!! I don’t even groove to Hochul that much but Zeldin’s face makes me see red🤬🤬🤬
I’m heading out to vote soon. I do ED voting because the polling place is a short walk from our house and never too crowded (wish it was more crowded actually in this heavily Dem ward)
I could have done it today, given that we had a state holiday just for it. But I did mail-in and find it more enjoyable because I can study the ballot a little more on referendums and names I’m less familiar with. Plus, our county elections team sends a text to notify you when it’s been received AND accepted.

Howie Klein from Down with Tyranny gives his opinions on today’s races in this article. Are Conservative Voters Dumb Enough To Fall For Russian Social Media Propaganda Again? You Bet They Are!
This morning, Bess Levin devoted her Vanity Fair column to a long list of the worst 2022 candidates— and there were so many she didn’t even have room for J.R. Majewski, Matt Gaetz, Paul Gosar, John Gibbs, Gym Jordan, Claudia Tenney, or Lauren Boebert! She did have room to define the team all these candidates are playing for, noting that the GOP now represents “absolute delusions about who won in 2020, an all-out war on reproductive rights and LGBTQ+ people, an acceptance of neo-Nazis and white nationalism, a complete and total aversion to the truth, an affinity for fascism, and a clear desire to bury democracy in a shallow grave.” I doubt many Republicans would even dispute her observations! These are her choice for worst of the worst— along with my forecasts for tomorrow):
Hope it’s true. I’m concerned about Warnock. Wasn’t a month ago, but Walker did not debate a second time, and he was probably wise not to as he made very few mistakes in the first debate.
Guess where the Russkies learned how to hone all this dumbing down/media/propaganda from? Not just places like Germany historically, but the ‘good ole’ USA. Aren’t we exceptional?
Oh give me a break! Who owns the vaste majority of the craporate, for profit, garbage media? Human junk like Murdoch, Sinclair, Musk, Zuckernobrains, etc.
NEW: Minnesota cops are spending >$300k to defeat Keith Ellison in the state AG race after he prosecuted Derek Chauvin for killing George Floyd. "You either need to let bad police reign or you'll be called anti-police, which is ridiculous." https://t.co/GtnQsJvpRN
I hope Keith Ellison beats the living sh1t outta these dumb, corrupt, fascist azzholes. I do all I can down here, but this state is pretty hopeless with all the long time institutionalized corruption. Examples: the 2000 POTUS decision, DWS, Desh1tface, Sick Rott, Gaetz, the Orange turd, etc., etc. MN is a little less stupid and corrupt.
