11/7 Down Ballot Election Night Open Thread
Good Evening Birdies..
It’s election night for some down ballot races and for local/state referendums.
According to twitter user Benchmark Politics, Ralph Northam has a 6% exit poll lead in the Virginia governor’s race. His tweet has a chart that will explain his first glance analysis:

Benchmark is one of a few to follow on twitter as he called it for Bernie in Michigan during the primaries, well before the networks did.
And Donna Brazile is appearing on Chris Hayes’ “All In” this evening. Your news and more in the comments!
Tally ho!
Update: NBC News has called the NJ governor race for Levi Sanders’ candidate, Phil Murphy and VA race for Northam. Perrillo, the OR primary candidate campaigned rigorously for Northam. Top issue in VA was healthcare.
Dems have picked up 6 seats in the VA ledge so far.
Other interesting development: voters in Maine appear to be in favor of expanding Medicaid. And NYers are not in favor of a Constitutional Convention.
Equally big news tonight was Danica Roem, the first openly transgendered woman to beat out a 25 year incumbent in the VA legislature.

Hay for the ponies…
lol
Networks call Murphy the winner in NJ Governor’s race. The polls had been closed for 1 second. LOL
Northam is presently leading and looks on the way to victory.
Race called for Northam.
Lets hope that the Bernie backed delegates are successful!
A place to check for Atlanta Mayor race.

Well not everything is perfect. But it is still early.

The leader is at 31% and Forte is at 10%. Not likely to win, but gets some creds competing in double digits in a very crowded, competitive race.
Update: Not looking too good with 15% of the vote in. Still in 5th place with 11% of the vote.
Fort was always a dark horse/yuge underdog to start with. With the corruption and the crowded field in Atlanta, he did quite well. T and R, Benny!! That constitutional convention was defeated in NY. Glad as I know jbob (I think) was concerned about it.
Danica Roem has won her election to the VA legislatiure. First transgender candidate to win in the US. Defeated odious Republican author of bathroom bill. KARMA!!
Looks like big night for the Dems
A bit more on this historic election.

Larry o’Donnell got a quick phone interview with her. She said her campaign was based on building up the infrastructure as well inclusive government.
Surprises everywhere tonight even on MSNBC reporting
They actually referenced an Intercept story tonight, related to a meeting about the DNC Hacks. While TOP will be crowing about the elections tonight, it is not getting any credit for wins either.
Be interesting to see a voter breakdown on Roem’s race. Millennials could care less about someone’s sexual orientation. 🙂
In Virginia no less! Yay! (serious karma there)
Just heard Tom Perez on MSNBC happily celebrating Northam and others who are looking good and then…he said, that one of the things the Dem party stands for is Health Care For All!!
Yay!
No more wimpy ‘access’ to health care? I am heartened.
Thank you Bernie and all others who work toward true health care for all (Roseann DeMoro etc.).
I am more hopeful, at the moment at least, that the their efforts will pay off.
Lets hear it for the Democratic Socialists!
LOL
probably around 3-4 am when most are sleeping
Wow! Yah DSA!!!!!
Hear, hear!! 🙂
It would seem that a thread might be made just for Mr. Carter’s win!

It is looking good in Virginia!
I might add that Steve Kornacki is not not as up to date as these results. He should be following The Progressive Wing. LOL
Hahaha, you rock Humphrey!

Discussion about Brazile’s optopsy is pretty timid, overshadowed by the positive results. Appears she and Perez got their message on the same page, although she is emphasizing grassroots energy. Neither she nor Perez is giving Bernie/OR direct credit.
True. Great to hear them talk Bernie stuff. But hello! There’s a birdie in the room you’re not talking about!!
Yep a YUGE birdie
Have been watching both channels for election coverage they are avoiding the B word –Bernie
And still mentioning, but not too loud how Clinton lost last year.
The victories aren’t getting attributed to the Clintons, for a change.
Finally
That calls for a replay:
never tire of this one! thanks, y’all!
I love that one and his “America” ad. 🙂

I was so happy to see that!!
Dems got VA Atty Gen for the sweep
Yah baby!
I will add this for good measure.
This was before tonight’s results came in.
Great.
This might be considered an understatement.
Lets hope that the Democratic leadership uses this wisely. ( although I have my doubts that they will.)
