That stormfront also slammed the NW corner of TN. In fact, hubster’s family lives south of it, thankfully. When I checked in via text, I was told that the area around Reel Foot Lake got wiped out. It’s a gorgeous place. Climate chaos……grrrrrr…….glad I have low BP!

Aint Supposed to Die A Natural Death
Aint Supposed to Die A Natural Death

I shared this post earlier today on yesterday’s open thread before I knew this thread was opened.

Sharing the trailer for the “weekend movie” sent out by my Atl Grandmothers for Peace. Looks like a good one.
RECOMMENDED
Sir! No Sir! (2006)
83 minutes
NETFLIX
Trailer: https://youtu.be/jULC3SCX9wE
Writer and Director
David Zeiger, worker in anti-war coffee- house near Fort Hood, Texas
Narrator
Troy Garity, son of Jane Fonda and Tom Hayden

“In the 1960’s an anti-war movement emerged that altered the course of history. This movement didn’t take place on college campuses, but in barracks and on aircraft carriers. It flourished in army stockades, navy brigs and in the dingy towns that surround military bases. It penetrated elite military colleges like West Point. And it spread throughout the battlefields of Vietnam. It was a movement no one expected, least of all those in it. Hundreds went to prison and thousands into exile. And by 1971 it had, in the words of one colonel, infested the entire armed services. Yet today few people know about the GI movement against the war in Vietnam.

The Vietnam War has been the subject of hundreds of films, both fiction and non-fiction, but this story–the story of the rebellion of thousands of American soldiers against the war–has never been told in film. This is certainly not for lack of evidence. By the Pentagon’s own figures, 503,926 “incidents of desertion” occurred between 1966 and 1971; officers were being “fragged”(killed with fragmentation grenades by their own troops) at an alarming rate; and by 1971 entire units were refusing to go into battle in unprecedented numbers. In the course of a few short years, over 100 underground newspapers were published by soldiers around the world; local and national antiwar GI organizations were joined by thousands; thousands more demonstrated against the war at every major base in the world in 1970 and 1971, including in Vietnam itself; stockades and federal prisons were filling up with soldiers jailed for their opposition to the war and the military. Yet few today know of these history-changing events.”

I am definitely going to watch it and see if I can spread it on Facebook and Twitter. The MSM has everyone convinced it was just a bunch of lazy dirty hippies that spit on soldiers.

Maybe one person did, but everyone I knew I was respectful and happy when they thanked us for getting them home sooner. some. ty!

Just watched it. I’m in tears. Yet there’s something hopeful about it.

I finished my BA in 1973. I went to college with Vietnam vets. They were not ra-rah, USA. They also told some real horror stories. So, this comes as no surprise. I’ve always been anti-MICC.

Massive Devastation After Dozens of Deadly Tornadoes Rip Through Multiple States
comment image.webp?h=8ad0418d&itok=NMFCTsrK

Emergency workers search through what is left of the Mayfield Consumer Products Candle Factory after it was destroyed by a tornado in Mayfield, Kentucky, on December 11, 2021. Tornadoes ripped through five U.S. states overnight, leaving more than 70 people dead Saturday in Kentucky and causing multiple fatalities at an Amazon warehouse in Illinois that suffered “catastrophic damage” with around 100 people trapped inside. The western Kentucky town of Mayfield was “ground zero” of the storm—a scene of “massive devastation,” one official said. (Photo: John Amis/AFP via Getty Images)

That TN town referred to in my earlier comment? It’s called Samberg and it was leveled. 🙁

I’m so done with about 95% of my generation being in office,Why cant she just go away and enjoy her millions and let the next generation try to fix things. It’s apparent that they only want to keep the status quo in place which is the last thing we need as a species.
