Turnout has been higher in Democratic strongholds, and among Black voters
Voters in Democratic strongholds had a head start after a court ruled that counties could offer Saturday voting this past weekend, following a lawsuit from Warnock’s campaign and Democratic allies. The places that took it up were mostly in Atlanta and its suburbs. That gave voters in these areas, who largely favor Democrats, a chance to cast their ballots sooner.
Democrats have largely kept up that momentum, with Black voters — a key component of the party’s base in Georgia — making up a greater share of the early electorate compared to what early turnout looked like before the November election.
During that period, Black voters were 29 percent of the electorate, noted John Couvillon, a Louisiana-based Republican pollster. Through Thursday, Black voters were 32.4 percent of the early vote for next week’s runoff, a positive sign of engagement for Warnock’s campaign. Warnock earned 90 percent support from Black voters last month, according to the Edison exit poll.
During the November election, the incumbent Democrat won the early vote while Walker won the Election Day vote. But margins matter.
“I think Sen. Warnock is building himself a pretty formidable lead right now as we speak,” Couvillon said.
Herschel Walker…..beyond pathetic, Ain’t.😩 I made this comment in an earlier thread. 100 years ago, if 2 AA men were running for any U.S. federal seat, the KKK and worse would have lynched them!
Aint Supposed to Die A Natural Death
Yep. And 100 years ago, he would have been excoriated in the black community for allowing himself to be a “shuckin’ n jivin’ uncle tom”. Warnock is so gentle and professional with his criticism.
The United States, sadly, is the only major country on Earth that doesn't guarantee paid sick days. Pathetic. In a modern civilized society, it should be a no-brainer that if you or your family gets sick, you should have paid sick leave. End of discussion.
A second Indiana judge on Friday blocked the state from enforcing its law banning most abortions after Jewish, Muslim and other non-Christian women challenged it in a lawsuit.
Marion County Superior Court Judge Heather Welch issued a preliminary injunction against the Republican-backed law, which prohibits abortions with limited exceptions for rape, incest, lethal fetal abnormalities or a serious health risk to the mother. The plaintiffs have argued that the measure infringes on religious freedom protected by another state law.
The law had already been on hold, as another judge in September blocked Indiana from enforcing it while Planned Parenthood and other healthcare providers challenge it in court.
Indiana became the first state to pass a new law banning abortion after the U.S. Supreme Court in June overturned its landmark 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling that had legalized the procedure nationwide. Other Republican-led states quickly began enforcing older bans.
Welch issued her injunction after a group called Hoosier Jews for Choice and five individual women challenged the abortion law under Indiana’s Religious Freedom Restoration Act in a case brought by the American Civil Liberties Union. The ACLU said the plaintiffs represented religions including Judaism and Islam as well as “independent spiritual belief systems.”
“The Court finds that S.E.A. 1 substantially burdens the religious exercise of the Plaintiffs,” Welch wrote, using the formal name of the law, in granting the plaintiffs’ motion for a preliminary injunction while the challenge to its legality proceeds.
“Although some religions believe that human life begins at conception, this is not an opinion shared by all religions or all religious people,” the ACLU said in a statement.
Shout out to @jaketapper for epically owning the McKinsey guy in this must-watch clip. This is so rare — but exactly what all television journalism should be. pic.twitter.com/EYa9nQ6v65
"the position of our administration is that the poor are poor. we're sorry for it, but there it is." and also: "die peasants die, we couldn't care less, if we literally tried"
I’ve reading a pretty good brain candy aka fiction novel set in Montana. That state, too, has quite a history of miners fighting it out with greedball owners.
I really loved Fleetwood Mac in the 70s and 80s (and still do). I’m so glad I went to Madison Square Garden for their 2014 reunion tour with Christine coming out of retirement. One of my favorite concerts ever.
I saw Fleetwood Mac the first time when Future Games was out. Saw them in a smallish venue; then 5 years later, after Buckingham-Nicks joined the band, I saw them in a sold-out stadium.
T and R x 2, jcb!!🎄☮️🙂👍 Thanks for the weekend OTs. I feel the same vibes about Warnock. Took a political day off yesterday. You have to do it to keep your sanity.
Fetterman getting elected is a start. So is the youing Progressives slowly increasing their ranks in the House. The problem now is time–climate crisis which will only continue to worsen. Young folks across the world know it and are beginning to react. But, will it be in time to ward off the worse?

I’ll put some Christine stuff here for us.
🙂
Don’t Stop is a Christine song. First used by Bill Clinton when he was still fun. Anyway better than Bush 1.
🙂 At least Bubba got that one right.
Over My Head was the first hit of many for the final grouping of Fleetwood Mac. Might be my favorite Christine
But then again it’s probably this one. Great guitar by Lindsey.
🙂 I never was big on Buckingham-Nicks, but when they teamed up with Fleetwood Mac, like super WOWSERS!! 🙂
🙂
Last big Fleetwood Mac hit in 1987. #4
🙂
I’ve loved Ms. McVie since her very early days with Chicken Shack. Her early days with Fleetwood Mac aren’t too shabby either. 🙂

Private Equity and Hedge Funds should both be illegal, or at the very least, heavily taxed. They serve no useful purpose.
As long as Sinemanchin are in there, not happening
