Actually he did a lighting in 2015 and I think 2019 too. But it’s perhaps that he has not done one in Burlington for awhile. I think had it not been for the recent tragedy, Bernie may have not done this again so publically – he was always more secular.

To add:

Paul ADK

Burlington needs it. And there was someone else shooting off a gun in front of a temple in Albany today. Seems like we’ve imported an ancient tribal war. Enough!

Paul ADK

There has to be a way to deal with this without treating all Jewish people like Netanyahu, or all Palestinians like Hamas. Just look at us. We’re so much better than this.

+270. You are absolutely correct, Paul.👍

There are so many people in this world that are so full of hatred that they will never have room in their mind for another way. They cant exist without something or one to hate. I figured at some point the middle east would get sick and tired of the endless killing. I guess that day is a long time off…

Paul ADK

It’s a trap, chasing all that hate. It’s all they do, as they are slowly consumed by it themselves. I’m watching that in a family member, now, and it’s like watching a tragedy unfold in slow motion.

T and R x 3, Ms. Benny!! 🙂 Thanks for hosting the weekend Nest. Yep, my beloved, late MIL and I were watching that game, too. The Pats were playing Miami. Hubster was out in the field with his film class. Remember, no ‘smart’ phones back then. When we heard that news, we just stared at each other. I had been getting bad vibes for months!! No lie. The Raygun Curse was elected the month before. Whew, super bad karma for sure! 🙁

Must have torn into the Carters’ hearts. John and Yoko were at the POTUS inauguration in 1977.

MAGA movement targets Taylor Swift with pitiful conspiracy theories
msnbc.com/the-re…

All i can say is Taylor Swift is everything MAGA abhors: young woman whom is healthy, successful, smart, strong, passionate, and influential. Maga is clutching thier collective pearls over that person of the year announcement

I woke up feeling ominous about this date, December 8, but I didn’t quite remember why. Of course. Major cultural theft, on the grand scale. That worm couldn’t have done more damage if he had torched MoMA. It tore my heart out and it still does. Another day, that will live in infamy. Thanks for the reminder.

It’s been 43 years ago but there was a lot of info going around back then. The JohnAndYoko bit was a joke. They were already divorced, if not on paper by then. She was a publicity junkie; he was not. She really wasn’t much of a talent, even by performance art standards. She was 7 years older than him, and he had his share of head problems. It was a major tragedy in many ways, but not the first one, and not the last.😢

Paul ADK

Yes. But Yoko has been a great curator for John’s legacy, she did give that to him. And their son Sean is an accomplished musician in his own right, I particularly like the work he did with the Claypool Lennon Delirium. He sounds a lot like his Dad, but you can hear a bit of his Mom in there too. And I know that Yoko was responsible for encouraging his development musically, even if John did set up the foundation during the five years’ “absence”.

Over the years I’ve come to the realization that Yoko didn’t really break up The Beatles, that course was already set by then. John and Paul were already off in very different directions, they signed everything together but by then were writing mostly separately. And George had already put out a solo album. And Ringo, well, he got by with a little help from his friends, didn’t he? The ensembles he toured with post Beatles were rather stellar. And Paul really carried The Beatles forward, into his solo work and work with Wings.

I don’t like the woman and am not impressed with anything she did. Her singing voice was horrible, and if she hadn’t run into him with a London exhibit, she wouldn’t even be a footnote in history. That said, I agree with you on the Beatle breakup. Yoko Ono didn’t do it. John Lennon did as he was the only one with the power and the influence. I’m an educated music nut and also have degrees in English. However, we can agree to disagree. That’s one of the reasons why I like this blog so much. You don’t see the flame wars, and viciousness that infect so many blogs. Good grief, politics is the main game on here, but everyone makes an effort to be civilized even when there’s disagreement. And believe me, we disagree on here. That’s the nature of politics. 🙂

wi66

Most here generally agree we have to move forward with the numerous problems we have. we may disagree on which way to do it but a least agree something needs to be done We can agree to try out an idea and then tweak it to eliminate and unforseen problems that may arrive. In todays world we have way to many congresscritters that think things are fine the way they are and wont budge to employ new ideas or ways of doing things especially those of the GQP.

Paul ADK

Yes. Her music is something of an acquired taste, isn’t it?

orlbucfan

Very true. So’s her writing. One of the fans of her poetry is Boy George who is a terrific singer IMO. At least he didn’t say anything about her vocals.

RIP Ryan. His name is very close to mine. Add a b, switch out the y and a for other vowels

One of my favorite movies

orlbucfan

jcb, I went back and looked up Ryan O’Neal’s obituary. Man, I’m no TV nor movie expert. I’m a book junkie. He was in some major film classics. Paper Moon certainly was one. The one that I never forgot cos it made such a tremendous impression on me was Stanley Kubrick’s Barry Lyndon. O’Neal played the title character and it was brilliant casting. But what I really recall is the visual aspect of that film. You could freeze-frame it and every image looks like a painting. It is absolutely beautiful!!!!! Of course, even film dummies like me know Kubrick was a genius in a league of his own.

Man, this is genocide, pure and simple. At least, Ukraine is getting some outside help from other countries. The Palestinians? Nada. The Arab nations surrounding Israel are going to explode soon. Byedone and his MICC/AIPAC pals need to get off their butts and call for a ceasefire! Yank Yaboob’s chain and hard! I’m one American who is getting fed up with having my name attached to genocide I don’t support. I’m not the only one. And that hoowee about being anti-jewish? Spare me!

Genocide?? If Israel does it, it must be legal.

wi66

Israel screams at the top of their lungs if someone says something negative about the Holocaust. Is what their doing to the Palestinian people any different? Will their extermination even be remembered? Hamas is a different story as their extremism is dangerous to all people.

Sickening and not surprising. You would never know that this is supposed to be the Season of Peace and Love.

8am on Sunday is definitely a good time to view the Rockefeller tree to avoid the 5th Avenue crush. Taken on my way to Grand Central Station.
