Keith Ellison Tells Supporters He’ll Keep Fighting and Handle Accusations Head On

Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) won a sweeping primary victory Tuesday night, running 30 points past his closest rival in the Democratic primary for attorney general. But when he addressed his supporters, he had to clear the air.

“We had a very unexpected event at the end of this campaign that happened,” Ellison said at his victory party at the Nomad World Pub. “I want to assure you that it is not true. We are going to keep on fighting all the way through. We are going to be respectful to all, and we are going to stand like steeples, and insist upon the truth.”

Just 72 hours earlier, Kate Monahan, the congressman’s former girlfriend, had circulated social media posts alleging that Ellison had emotionally and physically abused her. The most disturbing allegation was that he had dragged her off a bed, yelling obscenities, an incident she said she had secretly recorded.

But Monahan did not release that recording, and Ellison said no such tape could possibly exist as he had never abused his ex-girlfriend. While three of Ellison’s Democratic primary opponents called for him to answer the charges, most Democrats either stayed quiet about the allegations or supported Ellison.

The Democratic National Committee, on which he serves as vice chairman, had no response; neither did the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party, which had endorsed another candidate in the race. As of Tuesday night, two feminist groups — Ultraviolet and the National Organization for Women — were the only national liberal organizations calling for Ellison to quit.

Standing O for Bernie on Colbert’s Show

saying same thing over and over

and it is worth watching over and over

and now he is out there, everywhere, and a whole raft of new candidates

how much longer can establishment dems hold out?

magsview

Haha, Bernie’s relentless, and it drives the establishment crazy. 😉

wi60

The DNC mindset is like that old gun extremist saying “You can have control of the DNC when you pry it from our cold dead hands.

polarbear4

haha!

orlbucfan

Classic, wi60! 🙂

polarbear4

does my heart so dam much good! Thanks, Benny!

Watched it last night. He got a standing ovation, and the faint “Bernie” chants, too. He’s himself, and still wonders at all the adulation–you could see it in his body language. 🙂 What a true public servant he is. The progressive bench is showing itself now. He is very pleased by it, too.

Soon to be new members of Congress are spreading their message already.

magsview

Yay, Rashida’s detractors on the left-do you hear that??

Also, Rashida is right. I mean we already leverage that money given to Israel and basically make them use it to buy our stupid weapons, but let’s go further!!

humphrey

Speaking of the detractors.

WASHINGTON – The Jewish Democratic Council of America criticized one of its own party candidates for Congress in Michigan on Tuesday after she suggested she will oppose military aid to Israel if elected.

Rashida Tlaib, a daughter of Palestinian immigrants, is likely to win her race in Michigan’s 13th Congressional District after surviving a competitive Democratic primary. Her family remains in the West Bank.

In a statement, the JDCA emphasized that aid to Israel remains bipartisan in Congress because it is “mutually beneficial” to both Israel and the US.

Threatening to cut military assistance to Israel is inconsistent with the values of the Democratic Party and the American people,” said the Jewish Democratic group, which is supporting candidates in House and Senate races nationwide.

humphrey

Some info on the Jewish Democratic Council of America.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jewish_Democratic_Council_of_America

The Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA), which defines itself as “the voice for Jewish Democrats and the socially liberal, pro-Israel values, was announced in August 2017 and officially launched in November 2017. JDCA was incorporated in Washington, D.C., in June 2017.

JDCA’s launch event was attended by many high-profile members of Congress including Nancy Pelosi, Ben Cardin, Tim Kaine, Chris Murphy, Sherrod Brown, Steny Hoyer, and Debbie Wasserman Schultz. Over 20 elected Democratic leaders spoke at the event, which drew some 250 people. Senator Cardin (D-Md.), who is a member of the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee, stated the Democratic Party’s objection to imposing “religious tests for who can come to America,” but did not explicitly mention Trump’s travel ban

orlbucfan

What a lineup! DWS representing the crooked Jewish vote. Where was Chuckles Schumer, BTW?

magsview

Probably because Schumer not up for re-election until 2022?

I think that all of those listed are up for re-election this fall.

magsview

You know what else is “inconsistent with the values of the Democratic Party”? Sniping protestors using insanely destructive bullets that explode inside the victim’s body. Well, I hope it is at least!

Doctors in Gaza attributed the severity of injuries to the explosive nature of the bullets used by the Israeli snipers.

The special bullet explodes once entering the body, slicing veins and shattering bones.

humphrey

I can’t wait to look into this. It should be quite revealing!

A few tidbits from this release.

If the leadership of the Democratic party wasn’t corrupt Menendez would have been turfed long ago. He is still a crook.

About John Brennan no longer having high level security clearance…I think Glenn Greenwald points out both sides of the coin being tossed.

See what happens when the thumb is not on the scale. The DNC should learn from this!

magsview

That would be nice, eh Humphrey?

A fair, or even just ‘fair-ish’ contest? The people of VT want Bernie. They don’t care as much about the letter behind his name. The Democratic party and their most contentious members do a disservice to the ppl of VT when they make a fuss about VT’s traditions (that evolved thanks to Bernie). This is not a time to be rigid.

TheLeftistheCenter

Truth is it doesnt even make sense, hes winning the Dem primary by like 90% and its not like people are going to change for the general. If the dems think they have a better candidate, wouldnt the primary be where that person has the most advantage? If you cant get 10% in your party’s primary, why would you even want to bother with the general?

Just fake outrage…

magsview

Bernie’s opponent’s entire platform seems to have consisted of, “I’m not Bernie!”.

I still can’t get over that she moved to Vermont last September just to run against Bernie.

One of many reasons that Sarah Smith should be elected.

This simply does not get the coverage that it deserves.

Tens of thousands of protesters, both Israeli Jews and Palestinian citizens of Israel, took to the streets of Tel Aviv on Saturday night to protest the country’s widely condemned “Nation State Law.”

Passed last month, the law officially declared Israel as the nation state of the Jewish people and, among other things, made Hebrew the singular national language. The move was applauded by Israel’s right-wing government, which praised it as finally affirming the “Jewish character” of Israel.

Critics, local and international, however, have criticized the law, saying it turned Israel’s nearly 2 million non-Jewish citizens — both Palestinians and other minorities — into second-class citizens, by prioritizing Israel as a Jewish state over a democratic one.

About 30,000 protesters gathered in the Rabin Square in Tel Aviv and marched through the streets of the city towards the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, where the main rally, entitled “Abolish Nation-state Law – Yes to Equality,” took place.

Protesters called for the cancellation of the law and held signs calling on people to fight against apartheid.

magsview

I agree Humphrey, this was a diverse crowd protesting and I’d love to know why there wasn’t more coverage of it.

But, still, great to see. Not-so-great was the reason for the gathering.

orlbucfan

Netayaboob is following the old, successful script of keeping the public distracted from his criminality. He’s just a Jewish version of Nixon. Shame the Israeli voters were dumb enough to elect him twice. Sound familiar?

Just WOW! One if functionally illiterate and the other is Alexandria Ocasio Cortez.

Oh, well then I guess Amy Siskind will be dashing to Alexandria’s side!…any minute now…

Oh mercy me! This will not turn out good considering who is in charge.

http://thehill.com/policy/cybersecurity/402079-trump-ends-obama-era-rules-on-us-led-cyberattacks-report

President Trump has reportedly rolled back a series of Obama-era classified rules on how the U.S. government can launch cyberattacks on foreign targets.

The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday that Trump reversed the regulations, known as Presidential Policy Directive 20, on Wednesday.

The memorandum required that an extensive interagency process take place before the U.S. government embarks on any cyberattacks. Trump reversed the rules to try and ease some of those restrictions, which critics argued were detrimental to launching the attacks quickly, according to the Journal.

One administration official told the newspaper that Trump’s order was an “offensive step forward” meant to allow the U.S. to present a more aggressive response when faced with foreign election interference and other threats, as well as to bolster military moves.

National security adviser John Bolton reportedly sought to reverse the rules when he joined the administration earlier this year, according to the Journal
