One of the few things Obummer did that I liked. The Cubans who fled like Menendez were the Richie rich as in money, and RW to the core. That was right as Batista fell. A lot of native Floridians and long time residents like me do not like them. They were/are very intolerant, and a royal PITA. They also did a number on the Miami area and wrecked a lot of places. The younger Cubanos are much more tolerant and liberal. Byedone is a fossil, period.

Isn’t Powell another tRump turd?

T and R x 6, Ms. Benny!! ☮️👍✊ Sure am pulling for Bowman. jcb, I checked out that TOP diary you linked. Rec’d your comment and made a couple of my own. That place is literally nearly the opposite of what it was when I signed on in 2008. I have to really search for any familiar kossacks I know anymore. 🙄

Bowman is losing by 10 points with about half the vote in. Bowman is crushing Latimer in heavily black Co-op city in the Bronx. Latimer is winning mostly white wealthier Westchester handily.

Add in pieces of DNCrap like $hillary to the mix.

Ya. And she endorsed Latimer and said he is “a real Democrat”. The old guard still has a strong grip.

The Progressives/Liberals are slowly gaining in power. Two facts: you MUST be patient and plan long term, plus realize that your issues are what the majority of Americans want. Get your issues out there, mean it, and please do the 50-State-Strategy. My state is the national poster child for political corruption and ridiculous gerrymandering. It’s the state of Sick Rott, DeSh1tface, and tRump the turd. But, we overwhelmingly elected Maxwell Frost, and he will be re-elected with no problem. Why? He constantly stays in touch with all his constituents, and backs his/our issues to the hilt.☮️🗽

I prepared myself for the disappointment. Let’s see how long Latimer lasts. FL is definitely in play this election year. Nikki Fried may be the one who finally gets the opposition united. Every FL district has a choice for the voters. The Repukes are worried—yuk, yuk, yuk.

Hubster, FL native and staunch yellow dawg Demo, is saying Demos have a very good chance of winning this state. He’s usually right (and disgusted) most of the time. 👍✊

I’ve read a few articles that say Dems believe the FLa. is in play- didn’t believe them but coming from you i may have to change that thought process.
🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞.If that happened the Prez race would be over early election night.

There are a lot of Floridians who live here, natives and close to it. We’ve been politically active for years. FL will surprise the DNCrap. I know it’s hard to believe.

GOP lite never works for Dems. In the general, when that’s the choice, people tend to go for the real thing. The other thing is a study I read about in the Times a few years back, that showed it was moderates who are most likely to embrace fascism. If you can’t commit to an actual opinion, one way or the other, then autocracy looks like a great way to preserve the status quo, most often their own status, power and wealth.

Oh, and the Clintons could have gone anywhere, after the White House. They came here and grew their Foundation right next to Wall Street. Why? Because Wall Street has made the state Democratic Party in their image, and it’s the closest anywhere to what the Clintons consider ideal. Tear down the Wall, I say.

Same as it ever was. You win some, you lose some. In New York Democratic politics, there really isn’t the same organized effort to elect progressives that there is to maintain the corporate status quo. Further on up the road. Dismantle Wall Street, and the capitalistic grip it has on this state and the nation, really, and things will change. A reasonable tax structure would do it, well enough.

Put and keep the spotlight on them!

I took a dive into the results in NY-16. With almost 90% of the vote counted, Latimer leads in Westchester 63-47 and Bowman leads in the Bronx 84-16. Unfortunately, for Bowman, Westchester accounted for 89% of the vote in the election. Taking a look at two communities in Westchester—Mt Vernon (majority black less affluent) and Scarsdale (heavily white, large Jewish population, very affluent)—in the early vote (which should be fairly representative of the final vote in a Dem primary) Bowman leads in Mt Vernon with 61% of the vote while Latimer leads in Scarsdale with a whopping 91% of the vote. Additionally, Mt Vernon with 71,000 in population had 1352 early voters. Scarsdale with 18,000 in population had 1001 early voters. Obviously, the Scarsdale voters with the large Jewish population were way more motivated to vote.

I took a look at Yonkers too. Also less affluent, it’s about 40% white, 40% Hispanic, and 20% black. It’s actually where Latimer is from. I didn’t add up all the figures, but it looked like Bownan and Latimer broke even there.

The upshot is Bowman lost because of the heavy vote against him in the affluent areas of the district, with large concentrations of Jewish voters.
