With the Nina bad news, at least we in NY can look forward to getting rid of Cuomo.

https://www.nytimes.com/2021/08/03/nyregion/cuomo-toxic-workplace.html

The governor placed his finger on the back of the trooper’s neck, standing behind her in an elevator at his Manhattan office, tracing the path of her spine with a two-word narration: “Hey, you.”

Sometimes, he asked questions — Why didn’t she wear a dress? Why pursue marriage when “your sex drive goes down” afterward? Could he kiss her? — and sometimes, he made statements: He remarked that his ideal girlfriend could “handle pain.” He said that the trooper, in her late 20s, was “too old” for him. He directed her to say nothing of their conversations.

The trooper was perhaps most unsettled after an event on Long Island in 2019. As she held a door open for him, she felt the palm of his hand on her bellybutton, pressing toward her right hip, where she kept her gun. “I felt completely violated,” she later told investigators. “But, you know, I’m here to do a job.”

Doing a job at the behest of Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo was long known to be taxing and often demeaning work. But a 165-page report released on Tuesday by the state attorney general is at once the fullest accounting yet of his executive misdeeds and a meticulous rendering of how that conduct was permitted to fester in the first place.

To exist as a woman in Mr. Cuomo’s orbit, the report suggested, was to live “the dichotomy between fear and flirtation,” a space where the boss could toggle between intimate and intimidating and where his senior-most aides seemed to operate with a singular focus on the governor’s reputation and personal comfort.

In fact, the report says, as Mr. Cuomo sexually harassed women inside and outside his government, greater pains were taken to protect him from himself: The executive chamber declined to report harassment allegations from an executive assistant, Charlotte Bennett, to the appropriate state agency and moved instead to establish a practice preventing certain female staff members from being left alone with the governor.

The composition of his circle, in the report’s telling, was likewise intended to minimize exposure for Mr. Cuomo and accentuate a culture of fear around confronting him, with access granted chiefly to those with “a proven, personal loyalty.”

At the end with all the DFMI and Third Way money, Brown was way outspending Nina who spent more earlier. As much as her bowl of shit comment may have been justified, I do think it hurt her in a Biden loving district. Also for many reasons, Bernie’s endorsement is not a real plus with older black voters.

polarbear4

agree. but folks don’t remember it was the primary and Biden PACS were throwing all kinds of sh__ lies at Bernie. guess it doesn’t really matter in the age of Super Pacs, MSM, and short as hell memories.

polarbear4

the anger, it burns. taking a break for a while.

How wonderful! I’ll be watching this one’s career closely. Likely will be a boring back bencher and vote for the establishment.

jcitybone

I’m sure Shontel like Cori will be at the front lines battling 🙄

Nina was/is a threat to Clyburn when it comes to actually representing POC, and he/they will do all they can to stack committees with more people like Brown who ‘owe’ them.

Imagine if Nina had said she should get any specific committee assignment because ‘senator Sanders being in such a powerful position’ instead of actual merits.

LD: you need to show up on here more often. Nina has got to run again for this seat if she is for real. ??

Im rying orl, had to take some time to try and get life in order, figure out career/life decisions, etc. Still in the middle of it actually, but will gradually be back more and more.

Ill save most for a long post but to sum it up our house we rent is being sold and we dont wamt to rent anymore in dallas, and were still in the process of getting colorado land which puts us on a bind. Weve mostly decided i will quit my job while JD is able to work remote. In that time we’ll be doing a ‘van life’ of sorts and travelling the country for 3-6 months , so ill be back to full time blogging, mixed between politics and photography/travel stories. Hoping to be able to take tpw on the road and visit progressive offices/politicians around the country, cover protests, pow wows and a mix of my other interests.

Its throwing a lot of caution to the wind but we are so terribly unhappy in Texas that rapid, rash decisions are pretty preferable.

Aug 20 we depart dallas for our first destination of Pittsburgh for a week or so.

Stay tuned!

Good luck! I was just in Pittsburgh a few weekends ago for a wedding.

Ill have wayyyyy more time for writing!
