https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/518415-sanders-tells-maher-there-will-be-a-number-of-plans-to-remove-trump-if-he

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) looked to assure nervous Democrats that there are “a number of plans” to deal with a scenario in which President Trump loses the November election but refuses to leave office.

Sanders, speaking to TV host Bill Maher Friday night, said it was of tantamount importance that liberals elect Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden but that Democrats will have contingency plans to remove Trump from office if he refuses to go.

“The bottom line is, there are things that we have to do now to make sure that Biden wins. And if Trump attempts to stay in office after losing, there will be a number of plans out there to make sure that he is evicted from office,” he said. “But right now, in the next five weeks, our job is to defeat him and defeat him badly.”

The remarks come amid blistering criticism from Democrats over Trump’s refusal to commit to a peaceful transfer of power if he loses the November election.

“We’re going to have to see what happens, you know, but I’ve been complaining very strongly about the ballots. The ballots are a disaster,” Trump told reporters at a White House briefing Wednesday.

“Get rid of the ballots and you’ll have a very peaceful — there won’t be a transfer, frankly. There will be a continuation,” Trump added when pressed, referring to debunked theories about the susceptibility of mail-in ballots to fraud. “The ballots are out of control. You know it, and you know who knows it better than anyone else? The Democrats know it better than anyone else.”

Biden predicts Trump will leave office if he loses election
Trump says he wants ‘friendly transition’ but must be ‘an honest vote’
Sanders has repeatedly sounded the alarm over the remarks, giving a speech Thursday casting the election as one “between Donald Trump and democracy.”

“Never in a million years did I ever think that I would have to give a speech about what do we do if a president refuses to leave office if he loses. I never, ever thought that I would have to give that speech, or anyone else. But that is where we are today,” Sanders said Friday.

“Listen to what Trump is saying,” he warned. “Don’t brush it off.”

I’m pretty sure Bernie understands how hard he’s poking the African bees nest. I hope he won’t get stung.

humphrey

Unfortunately he has already been stung twice during the latest primaries.

This would be such a great time for Democrats to point out that Trump doesn’t want mail in ballots because machines are so easy to hack! Geez.

Paul ADK

Not only that, when people vote, the Democrats win. At least to date.

A bigger worry is that people will like the convenience of voting by mail, and will want it every time. And then start asking for things like universal registration.

Can’t have that, now.

Can you think of any Democrat that would step up to this challenge? I’m with Bernie. Let’s get ready to rumble.

The fascists are planning a rally in Portland Oregon!

https://www.pressdemocrat.com/article/news/oregon-governor-sends-state-police-to-portland-for-protests/

SALEM, Ore. — Oregon Gov. Kate Brown declared a state of emergency Friday as she announced that state troopers and sheriff’s deputies would be sent to Portland through the weekend to help police, in the state’s largest city, monitor a weekend rally by the right-wing group Proud Boys and counter protests by liberal groups.

Portland has been roiled by often violent protests for more than three months following the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

Demonstrations that went into a lull during Oregon’s recent wildfires resumed this week, fueled by a Kentucky grand jury’s decision to not indict officers in the fatal shooting of Breonna Taylor.

Brown told reporters she is exercising her gubernatorial authority to place Multnomah County Sheriff Mike Reese and Oregon State Police Superintendent Travis Hampton in charge of Portland’s public safety on Saturday and Sunday. Brown said that Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler supports the plan.

“This is our entire community coming together to protect our community,” Brown said. “We want the highest level of coordination and the strongest leadership possible.”

Under the state of emergency declaration, Oregon State Police and Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office will have the authority to set curfews and close roads.

“Certainly with the use of any tool or option, we are always going to be proportional in our response,” Hampton said. “We want to do everything we can to intercede early, so we don’t have to get to a higher level of force if it’s required to keep the peace.”

Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler has banned local police from using tear gas.

humphrey

This doesn’t seem to be right.

The 🐷s seem to have a plan and I have my doubts that both sides will be treated the same.

https://www.newsweek.com/50-portland-police-officers-deputized-federal-law-enforcement-ahead-proud-boys-rally-1534436

About 50 Portland, Oregon, police officers will be deputized as federal marshals ahead of Saturday’s Proud Boys rally, enabling federal prosecutors to potentially bring federal charges upon those arrested.

Officers assigned to the specialized crowd control teams in the Portland Police Bureau (PPB) will be deputized early Saturday morning, Oregon State Police (OSP) Supt. Travis Hampton told The Oregonian/OregonLive. Governor Kate Brown tapped Hampton to lead police response with Multonmah County Sheriff Mike Reese under an emergency executive order, OregonLive reported.

Hampton asked the U.S. Marshals Service to grant the officers in the special squad federal powers. “Portland officers have been serving on the front lines of nightly protests for months, sustaining injuries and encountering unspeakable violence,” he said. “If I am to send them into harm’s way this weekend, on my authority, I’m going to ensure they have all the protections and authority of OSP troopers.”

Members of the OSP’s crowd control squad were deputized as federal officers earlier this summer in the wake of ongoing nightly protests in downtown Portland, according to OregonLive.

Looks like it will favor the magats bc he talks about “unspeakable violence“ and it looks like he’s talking about the protesters that have been protesting, not the proud boys. And that’s just ridiculous.

McDonald's workers in Denmark get $22/hour, 6 weeks paid vacation, year paid maternity leave, pension + universal health care/sick leave

In the U.S. that job can be $7.25/hour and no benefits

The cost for all this? The Denmark Big Macs cost 27 cents morehttps://t.co/azQTyZCXfL

27 cents, eh?

That’s what I call getting value for your 27 cents!

Hmmm, where have I heard the number 27 before..

wi62

The idiot that owned Papa Johns could’ve provided health care for his employees for about 0.25 per pizza price increase and refused

magsview

Kind of makes me wonder if opposition to raising the minimum wage isn’t just about raising costs.

wi62

What a nice little game our corporate fascist controlled Gov has going, Keep wages low, provive minimal benefits if any, maximize profits and rig tax laws so they pay no corporate taxes. Meanwhile the middle class and poor pick up the tab for them and also pay the taxes for various social programs due to the lack of income while corporate america figures out more ways to screw the average joe. How long before it comes crashing down or how long can the govt keep printing money to bail out the rich?

The author of the article is biased but much of the substance rings true.🤔

https://thehill.com/opinion/campaign/518180-when-will-basement-biden-get-in-the-game

Less than six weeks before the election, one of the most profound disappointments among some of Joe Biden’s supporters is that he doesn’t even seem to be trying.

If some Democrats are correct, crushing “The Donald” should have been easy. After all (according to them), Trump is an impeached, sex-offending, tax-evading, white supremacist, coronavirus-mismanaging, sexist, racist, Islamophobic, homophobic, mysogynistic, sexist liar who is wildly unpopular. And Biden has long showed a hefty advantage in the polls.

If all of that’s true, then Biden need do little more than show up, and winning should be a piece of cake — a massive blowout

But even to some of his cheerleaders, it feels like Biden hasn’t even been showing up. From March until the last week in August, according to news reports, Biden made no in-person speeches or campaign appearances at all.

On Thursday, President Trump stopped by the Supreme Court to pay respects to the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, made a health-care policy speech in North Carolina, then flew to Jacksonville, Fla., for a giant campaign rally at the airport.

Biden? He had no public events on his calendar.

When Biden does get out, such as his visit to Charlotte, N.C.,, on Wednesday, it’s for low-key, understated events. His enthusiastic fans don’t come out by the thousands, hours in advance, lining the streets hoping to just catch a glimpse.

Yet, don’t allow some media reports to fool you. I try to watch most of the candidates’ events, and Biden is not the confused, befuddled old man glued to the teleprompter that some edited videos make him out to be. I, for one, anticipate he will largely appear informed and calm during the debates, as he does at his campaign appearances.

So why, exactly, the low profile?

On many days that should be his busiest, from a campaign standpoint, Biden’s often calling a “lid” in the mornings. That means the candidate is telling the media, in advance, that there will be no public events the rest of the day; the press can pack up and come back tomorrow. The calling of so many lids at a crucial phase of Campaign 2020 is naturally stoking rumors. A lid theoretically removes some of the prying eyes of the press from scrutinizing — well, whatever you may not want them to scrutinize. It keeps them from following you to — well, wherever you may not want to be followed.

If Bernie was the candidate he’d be all over the place..wait Bernie is all over the place.

Bernie’s TH on rural issues. Live.

Thank you Benny!

Am listening now, to Bernie. I just love his straight-talking. This ‘rural America’ issue must be something a lot of current Trump voters could respond to if they heard it.

Onah Ossai is strong.

One of his qualities that I wish more of our politicians had. How refreshing that would be for the American people

I seem to have forgotten how many seats were lost during his two terms.🙄🤦‍♀️🤦‍♂️🤔

He came into office with a majority in both houses!

I just realized something that’s been bothering me about Obama, something I couldn’t put my finger on-he gives off the vibe of someone who is very far away.

must be how he handles his lying. similar to petey.

He’s pretty slick. I fell for it once.

Buttigieg’s schtick does seem similar.

Petey and Snotty Walker;
Quint: The thing about a shark(walker), it’s (He’s)got lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a doll’s eyes. When (He) comes at you it doesn’t seem to be livin’… until he (Screws you over with legislation) bites you, and those black eyes roll over white.(he gives you that half assed smile like Petey afterward)

Damn, wi62, powerful stuff! Who is Quint? a poet? wow, so much imagery.

Actually from Jaws when he was talking about the Indianapolis incident. Describing Shark attacks when the indy crew had to abandon ship after being torpedoed during ww 2

Benny

Unfortunately, she’s likely to become part of the bench. Biden, even if he’s against it, will have to consider adding more justices, but I’m with Bernie that they should have term limits or rotate.

wi62

If Byedone had any balls and if he wins and has the senate he should pack the USSC. Then tell the turtle we can either put in a system of term limits for USSC or continue to play this game everytime we need to sit a judge. People smarter than me can figure out a way to sit judges at all levels that will consider the laws/ people first and not corporate overlords. All the USSC is right now is a tool for political parties not the people and its gone on way to long

humphrey

That is a mighty big “IF”!😁

Evers did fire the head of the unemployment office, but the problem goes back thru several Gov’s as the computer equipment is over 40 years old and they were undermanned which goes back to walkers budget/state worker cuts for tax cuts for the rich, Evers could’ve reacted faster and made some moves with other state personal I feel. I have a couple people that are state workers they tell me that tax cuts for the rich go thru at warp drive , but for a new computer systems that goes at the speed of the wright bros plane. It took over 10 years for just one system for state payroll, the new system replaced the one from 1980. I’ve been swiping my work id badge for payroll for quite some time now
