Sen. Gillibrand: Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren Leaders Of The Democratic Party
I have liked Gillibrand ever since she was the Rep for our upstate/Catskills district.
She is certainly better than a lot of the alternatives. Every now and then though she will go and do something that completely confuses me.
Hi LD and all the PWP’s. Gillibrand was kind of a right wing hawk when she was a representative from upstate NY. She never saw a military spending bill she didn’t like. Since getting moved over to the Senate her constituency includes many liberal areas (NYC) and her positions have evolved to being much more progressive. I think she has been exposed to good influences by the Senate. Always remember she is a third generation Democratic insider. Considering her background I think she is doing well.
Hi jbob! Hope retirements treating you better than corporate life is treating me 🙂
Hi LD I’m enjoying retirement. I got evacuated for two weeks due to the South Fork Fire Then the air quality was real bad for a while. Things are mostly back to “normal” now. I’m a little more than half way through my one year vacation in Yosemite. It’s been truly great so far!
I was impressed that she could be elected at all in that district and be as progressive as she was then. After all this district (though not quite the same boundaries after redistricting) now is represented by the odious Faso
I was glad to hear that Gillibrand voted against the bloated military budget.
It’s about time!!!!
Off stage some CNN heads exploded with that statement along with a few at the DNC
Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders are testing Democrats’ left turn
Both of ’em and I’m theirs. 😉 Both have the fire in the belly.
Still uncertain about Warren. Any ex-Repuke makes me nervous, but that’s just me. LOL. The Bernster is a true democrat; let the rest like Al Franken prove it. T and R to the usual suspects!! 🙂
I generally support Warren, but she makes me nervous sometimes. Like this morning:
As Warren and Sanders Jockey for Support, One Takes a Road More Traveled
The article compares Sanders and Warren.
uh oh. i’ll have to reassess. i’ve always thought i’d vote for her, but geez, UBS and Jamie?
Do you suppose that the voting process is so well in the hands of the 1% that it’s actually impossible w/o this kind of junk? I’d really hate to go down that hole.
I know! Jamie Dimon, for example, seems to think he has an eternal hall pass to walk right into the Oval Office to tell our presidents what to do. (I don’t trust him)
Yes, the 1%, maybe even more like the 0.1% (0.01%?), seem to have a firm grip on power, perhaps it has always been that way.
Even supposedly rebellious outlets like Vice often seem to have financial backers who I’m sure are going to do whatever they can to maintain the status quo (like Murdoch in Vice’s case).
I’m pissed at Vice today because I saw that they published a ridiculous hit piece on Sanders and his MFA plan. The writer found a way to basically throw sexism shade at Bernie over it. I’m going to post as stand-alone, that’s how pissed I am };>)
VINCENT FORT ANGERED DEMOCRATIC ELITES WHEN HE ENDORSED BERNIE SANDERS. CAN HE BE ATLANTA’S NEXT MAYOR?
When I was the production manager for Peter Tosh the mayor of Atlanta in 1981 came to the show and presented him with a key to the city. This was on stage and Peter thanked him by saying that one day this key may actually open some doors. The mayor(first black mayor of Atlanta)was very mad at getting dissed with the truth about black peoples standing in a major southern city.
sounds like a fun, if somewhat stressful, job!!!! :O)
Wow, I loved Peter Tosh!
Was lucky enough to see him in Montreal in 1983.
The show’s lineup was one for the ages:
1. Stevie Ray Vaughn
Stevie was amazing, I loved him so much, he was one of my faves of all time. Blues rock is my favorite genre. when people asked me what my favorite music was I’d say, “Stevie Ray Vaughn”. Stevie had the misfortune of being first, starting at 6pm, so people were still arriving. But he played as though he was the headliner.
2. Peter Tosh
Peter and his band were awesome, I enjoyed them thoroughly, my only regret was that I was in a huge stadium and being up high in a seat was not good for dancing. So I ‘danced’ in my seat. I love reggae.
3. Talking Heads
Blew me away. By now my seat was taking a serious beating. Super-funky stuff. They were ‘on’ and by the second song I abandoned my plastic seat (and terrible date, lolol) for good and I finally headed down to the floor area to dance. Bonus points to David Byrne for mocking the cameras and huge screen that only The Police were apparently permitted to utilize. Byrne sang into the camera at one point as though it was working for him and I laughed out loud. Such a mischief-maker.
4. The Police
Well, they were fine, people enjoyed them, but it was jarring to see Sting’s face on the huge screen behind the stage all the time and, quite frankly, Sting seemed to be on a total ego-fest. The camera only rarely rested on Summers or Copeland. I got so turned off I left early. 😉 They seemed anticlimactic after the three amazing previous bands.
Peter Tosh – Equal Rights and Justice
Wow! The stuff of a life well lived. :O)
Peter Tosh:
“Mystic Man”
“MaggaDog”
“Johnny B. Goode”
Like Bob Marley, he died tragically (murdered in his living room by a known nutcase) way too young! 🙁
We opened for The Police at all the shows in Canada on their Syncronicity Tour. FYI They (The Police) played an “invitation only” show in a small club in Montreal the night before the show you saw.
She used “climate chaos”! I’m sure they were out there, but I had not heard anyone use it before i did.
This radical money policy would easily pay for Bernie Sanders’ Medicare for all
Yes, I’ve been wondering the same thing. wtfrack? where are the people who know how much LESS it will cost in the end? His people should get their people on the phone, ASAP.
Well, cut the MICC for starters. FRightwingers have too many MICC bases all over the world. Close them. That will more than pay for MFA.
And there will be savings even without cutting anything! What we will pay in taxes will be less than what we pay now. And we need some cost controls on many things.

What Do Centrist Democrats Even Stand For?
Give me a break! Radical, my rearend! It’s fixing a mistake Nixon made in 1973. Turd Wayers have been a curse since the YUPPIE days with Raygun.

Splintered: Single-Payer Litmus Test Has Cut The Democratic Party In Two
Huh? As if these rural regions are so receptive right now to what these establishment Dems are selling. It’s basically a Dem wipeout there now thanks to them.
Exactly. Most of us saw the clip the LD found of the standing ovation in W VA, people who voted for Trump loved Bernie and MFA.
“this push to purity” Ugh!
Meanwhile even many Republicans are open to MFA because guess what? Even THEY are tired of paying through the teeth for healthcare!

Trump wants big military parade on July 4 to show ‘strength’
https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-wants-big-military-parade-july-4-show-strength-201153624.html
I thought this kind of crap was reserved for 2 bit dictators, we don’t need to show off our military like that. I prefer the “speak softly and carry a big stick” and use that stick as a last resort. Trumpcorp statement reminds me of the gunnuts that are deficient in one other area and are self conscious and have to show off their guns to make up for it-sadly Trumpcorp has the military as his “Gun” so sad 🙁
i saw an alleged picture of him without his rug. he looks really old.
