I am not sure if this comment is snark.😏

She does work for the Washington Post.

polarbear4

that’s a shame. silly to put the media in that position though, too. they could have asked them to retract—but prolly too late.

lesson learned. people could have seen it as supporting his campaign.

Garrick get grandma to vote for Bernie 🤗. Joe really is not that strong. 😴

https://wqad.com/2019/08/19/bernie-sanders-speaks-to-voters-in-davenport/

Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders held back to back events in Davenport on Monday, the first he spent talking to local union leaders and members in the morning, and then community members and voters.

“Today I’m gonna ask a lot of you,” the Democratic presidential candidate said. His call was a special appeal to some of the youngest listeners in the room.

I’m personally really invested in the Democratic Primary right now, rooting for a few different people. I just wanted to come down here for Bernie himself and see what else might have changed in his agenda, and see how the QC are gonna change if he wins.-Garrick Utley

16-year-old Garrick Utley, a junior at Sherrard High School, and his grandmother Kathleen Eckhardt were among the first in line at the Davenport Public Library.

He will be too young to cast a ballot.

But he’s already convinced his grandmother to vote for the very first time in 2020.

Senator Sanders says its the concerns of average workers he wants to elevate.

“The average worker today is not making more than he or she did 45 years ago.”

His agenda: income inequality, investing in infrastructure, affordable housing, Medicare for all, free tuition, and independence from fossil fuel

He’s asking for help from people like Garrick.

Garrick says he’s still waiting to meet one more candidate in person.

“I’m going back and forth between Bernie and (Vice President) Joe Biden,” said Garrick, “both are really strong, but I’m leaning towards Bernie currently.”

Garrick says he has already convinced his grandmother to vote for the very first time in 2020.

Sen. Bernie Sander ends his day today with a softball game at the Field of Dreams in Dyersville

So far crickets about this plan at DK. Says a lot about that place that this is being ignored. Especially since every cough or burp by Warren or Harris makes the front page there.

https://www.jacobinmag.com/2019/08/bernie-sanders-criminal-justice-safety-for-all-plan-black-lives-matter

Bernie Sanders’s Justice and Safety for All plan is a big deal. With no fewer than 127 bullet points, it’s the most comprehensive criminal justice plan released by any Democratic presidential candidate. As a random example, Sanders’s plan doesn’t just affirm the right to counsel for people without the means to pay — it proposes seven reforms to guarantee that right in practice. That granularity is characteristic of the whole document.

The plan’s heft and substance should put to rest the rumor that Sanders talks pretty but is thin on details. Moreover, the plan has implications that extend far beyond his own campaign.

For years, civil rights and criminal justice reform activists and organizations have been looking beyond procedural reforms. Increasingly, they’ve been training their sights on substantive change outside the criminal justice sphere itself, seeking community investment solutions that can improve living standards, improve safety, and over time displace police and prisons. Meanwhile, Sanders has been searching for a way to apply his democratic socialist ideas to criminal justice issues. The Justice and Safety for All plan represents the confluence of these currents: a democratic socialist looking to apply his political vision to criminal justice meets a criminal justice reform movement hungry for radical social interventions.

Any comment on your endorsement Spike? Oh yeah you’re rich,

https://www.commondreams.org/news/2019/08/19/kamala-harris-who-just-clarified-her-rejection-real-m4all-snub-climate-forum-favor

In the space of 24 hours, Sen. Kamala Harris, a California Democrat running for the party’s 2020 presidential nomination, made clear that when forced to choose between the interests of the donor class or progressives, she’d choose the former.

On Sunday night, as Bloomberg reported, Harris attended a big money fundraiser in the Hamptons, telling the superrich attendees “I believe in capitalism” and that she wasn’t “comfortable” with a comprehensive Medicare for All plan.

Bloomberg’s reporters set the scene:

Teslas and Maseratis lined the street as Kamala Harris greeted guests sipping drinks from plastic cups with her name on them and eating cinnamon sugar donuts from Dreesen’s at a fund-raiser hosted by movie executive Jamie Patricof and his wife Kelly as the summer of Democratic fund-raisers rolled on in East Hampton.

The next day, the Harris campaign told CNN Harris would not attend the network’s September 4 climate forum, citing previous commitments—big dollar California fundraisers.

Harris was the only candidate of the nine who reached the threshold to participate in the forum to decline the invitation, a decision that was sharply criticized by climate advocates.

“We need a leader who prioritizes the future of humanity over rubbing elbows with millionaires and billionaires,” environmental group Sunrise Movement said in a disapproving tweet reacting to the news about the forum.

orlbucfan

I will say it again: Spiko thinks she’s cute, and he’s a big shot.

orlbucfan

Benny: just wandered over to that TOP diary about Flako Harris skipping out on climate change. That site has really deteriorated from when I signed on 11 years ago. 🙁

Can you believe that good looking gal is a grandma?? 🙂

polarbear4

who’s the kid?

jcitybone

LOL. So predictable. Warren is rising so now Rubin will go after her. Conservative “Never Trumper” Rubin’s ultimate goal is to make sure that neither Bernie nor Warren get the Dem nomination.

So transparent Rubin. Use Warren to divide progressives, If she seems to be doing to well, go after her alleged weaknesses. Oh Jen. STFU!!

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2019/08/19/warren-just-emphasized-her-biggest-weakness/?utm_source=reddit.com

That said, she still has two interrelated weaknesses. First, voters desperate to beat President Trump don’t know if she is too progressive (especially on Medicare-for-all) to win more centrist voters. Second, and arguably more important, her misstep on her Native American ancestry raised serious concerns about her political acumen, suggesting Trump is going to have her on defense on Day One.

So as the summer draws to a close, what does she do? Put a neon light around her biggest misstep. The Post reports: “Sen. Elizabeth Warren opened her remarks at a Native American presidential forum with a more straightforward version of the apology she has offered in the past for identifying as a Native American for two decades while she was a law professor.” She said contritely, “I want to say this, like anyone who’s been honest with themselves, I know that I have made mistakes.” She went on: “I am sorry for harm that I have caused. I have listened and I have learned a lot, and I am grateful for the many conversations that we’ve had together.”

“I don’t know, healthcare” like it’s nothing! Grrr

You’re losing me Jill! Downplaying voters #1 issue might not work out the way you think it will. Oh, that’s right, ALL THAT MATTERS IS BEATING TRUMP, right? Who care if we replace Trump with a lump of flesh that will do nothing other than extend the status quo.
