I support the sentiment of Chubby Black Girl. My family was raped by Banksters. The type that Biden works for. I WILL NOT SUPPORT BIDEN UNDER ANY CONDITIONS.

I am getting angrier and angrier with Bernie as this day wears on. I want my 2800$ back. And I want the many hours I put into supporting his/our campaign back. I did not give 2800$ to Bernie to have him endorse someone who stands against everything that Bernie and I stand for. I did not give hours of my time to have Bernie support someone who stands against everything that he and I stood for. Had he just conceded and quit I would have been disappointed. But to have endorsed Biden? MAN, I AM PEEVED!

Today is the day that Bernie ceased being the leader of the movement that he started. The question is where will it go and who will lead it into the future?

magsview

I agree.

Instead of endorsing Biden, Penn for Bernie will form a new on-campus progressive coalition

“We’re just really engaging with the members of our club right now, and how we can best translate our club into a populist left coalition on campus with strong contrasts to Penn Dems and mostly center-right groups,” Penn for Bernie Co-director and College sophomore Amira Chowdhury said.

Penn for Bernie Co-director and College sophomore Jack Cahill said the group’s opinion is split for the general election, with some members opting to vote for Biden, some planning to vote third-party, and others abstaining from voting entirely. He said Penn for Bernie does not feel it needs to formally support the presidential pick of the wider Democratic party or influence its members’ voting decisions.

“Voting is, fundamentally, a mechanism for someone to voice their support for a candidate who is at least somewhat aligned with their political and policy convictions. Unfortunately, for many of us, Joe Biden is the antithesis of everything we stand for and believe in,” the group wrote in a statement to The Daily Pennsylvanian.

The group’s board members do not believe Biden will adopt progressive policies that benefit impoverished and working-class minority groups, and cited that these groups comprise the majority of the people who are absent from America’s political process. Sanders’ campaign championed youth and working-class issues, such as providing universal health care and wiping out student loan debt, and his on-campus supporters are unconvinced that Biden will implement policies effective enough to remedy those issues.

Not me, Us. We will.

Bernie has taken us as far as he can but at least his decision today clarifies the situation. The movement is now split between those who want to follow Bernie to Biden and those who don’t. Will those who favor options other than Biden unify around a single option? It will be interesting to see what happens to Bernie’s surrogates and staffers. Will they all go to Biden? A new leader may emerge from those who don’t go. Interesting times.

Still want people to vote for him in the primary if for nothing else than to show everyone else the strength of his policies and that we care about the man

That ‘endorsement’ was something… there’s Bernie, talking about beating Trump, and then there’s Biden, actively tearing up everything Bernie stands for. Maybe Bernie had an agreement to support the Chosen One, I do not.

At times almost jovial, the two men went back and forth on issues, with Mr. Biden asking Mr. Sanders if he had any questions for him, and Mr. Sanders responding by asking Mr. Biden if he supported policies that the Vermont Senator has championed for years, including a $15 minimum wage and tuition-free public college.

The two men said they would form “task forces” on issues including the economy, education, immigration, health care, criminal justice and climate change.

I don’t see any ‘securing’ $15/hr. Did Joe say that he would immediately implement it???

jcitybone

Needs to pass Congress so the Senate needs To switch hands and Biden will advocate supposedly to get the reluctant Dens on board. Oh yes, and the filibuster needs to go. More individual states can pass it though

orlbucfan

The filibuster protects the minority party in the Senate. Think about it. I back it for that reason.

polarbear4

And I’ve said many times I’m for the same filibuster that Bernie is for make them fight it out on the floor night after night the public will get behind the person who’s right

jcitybone

I’m not but this is a good suggestion

magsview

I’m not annoyed, I’m crushed.

magsview

I’m upset enough to repost all of the items I just posted on the last thread actually:

‘I must admit that I’m upset at this.

Mostly because I don’t see what Bernie ‘got’ for this. Did he ‘get’ anything at all???’

Bernie Sanders endorses Joe Biden for president

It could take more time for the progressive movement that Sanders had built over two presidential bids to follow the Vermont senator and align behind Biden. One of Sanders’ most prominent supporters, New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, told The New York Times that Biden’s campaign had not yet reached out to her, and that the “process of coming together should be uncomfortable for everyone involved — that’s how you know it’s working.”

If Bernie doesn’t get anything for this capitulation there will be hell to pay.

This won’t be enough imo:

Sanders asked Biden at one point if he could support a national $15-an-hour minimum wage, and Biden said yes.

For one thing we all know that Biden would probably want to phase it in incrementally like Hillary wanted to do. Not good enough.

Not good enough for me and not good enough, yet at least, to do much to drive turnout.

I’m Sure whatever agreements have been worked out behind the scenes. Whatever, they are they satisfied Bernie and I believe that he has certainly earned some trust.

magsview

So behind the scenes that even Bernie’s top team members weren’t informed???

humphrey

It appears as if he has thrown members of his old team under the bus.

jcitybone

I like Briahna but I would not put her in the top team. Really the top team is Bernie, Jane, Jeff Weaver, and a possibly a few others.

magsview

Jeff Weaver…..bunch of curse words….

phatkhat
phatkhat

Jeff Weaver?? Puleeeze.

polarbear4

are you sure she wasn’t told?

polarbear4

I’m with you mags. I’m shocked part furious part heart broken, but I know my body can’t go through a lot more right this minute.
so i’m “calm. “

humphrey

The timing of Bernie’s endorsement couldn’t have come at a worst time.

With new coverage like this.

polarbear4

There’s another one, unvetted, as yet

jcitybone

The overwhelming majority will though like last time. Leftist Bernie voters supported Clinton at a higher % than moderate/conservative Bernie voters. But it’s not a cult, everybody will make their own decisions. Bernie, however, will be arguing that voting for Biden is what we should do.
