ty mags! i’m glad someone is talking about what a weak group it really was.

and yes, i’m beyond fuming into a kind of existential despair about “radical leftists.” even people who should know better–Seane Corn–“yoga teacher, public speaker, activist”–talk about the Alt-Left (that’s us!) and sez we are just like the Alt Right. I’m in a group of women that i care for and that i don’t want to leave, but Corn is a heroine to many of them. The same ones that are waxing poetic over Obama’s new book. it so disheartens me.

“requires truth, reconciliation & repair”

I really have to laugh here. I do NOT use Facebook. I am NOT even registered on Twit(ter). It sure hasn’t affected my quality of life. 😂 What BS!💩

same here , i’m perfectly fine without that in my life

it’s a question of civil rights, tho, too.

More MAGA Blue Lives Matter. Pretty hard to watch

dam. is he ok?

Boy watching this reminded me of the Camp Randell fan rush back in the early 90’s Bucky had just upset Michigan and fans started rushing the field, Their was a low level fence to get over but due to the slope of the stands and thousands of fans pushing each other towards the field the fans by the small fence were getting crushed by it and 10 fans were found not breathing and had to be revived, thankfully no deaths. Video showed that some were screaming like the guy in the video above until they passed out. The players did thier best to pull people over the fencing to help. The main difference IS that the incident at the game was accidental and poor planning, changes were made fence gone. The coup at the capital was deliberate along with poor planning.

I recall too many horror stories of innocent fans getting crushed by crazed mobs at major sporting and music events. Glad I was never in one, 😟 Scary.😱

Two of the worst involved Liverpool

The Hillsborough disaster was a fatal human crush during a football match at Hillsborough Stadium in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England, on 15 April 1989. It occurred during an FA Cup semi-final between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest in the two standing-only central pens in the Leppings Lane stand allocated to Liverpool supporters. Shortly before kick-off, in an attempt to ease overcrowding outside the entrance turnstiles, the police match commander David Duckenfield ordered exit gate C opened, leading to an influx of even more supporters to the pens. This led to a crowding in the pens and the crush. With 96 fatalities and 766 injuries, it is the worst disaster in British sporting history.

The Heysel Stadium disaster (German pronunciation: [ˈɦɛizəl]; French pronunciation: [ɛizɛl]; Dutch pronunciation: [ˈɦɛizəl]; German: Katastrophe von Heysel; French: Drame du Heysel; Dutch: Heizeldrama; Italian: Tragedia dell’Heysel or Strage dell’Heysel) was a human stampede that occurred on 29 May 1985 when mostly Juventus fans escaping from a breach by Liverpool fans were pressed against a collapsing wall in the Heysel Stadium in Brussels, Belgium, before the start of the 1985 European Cup Final between the Italian and English clubs. 39 people—mostly Italians and Juventus fans—were killed and 600 were injured in the confrontation.

First Amendment protests!

lolol. but of course. he’s a master at being a flim-flam man.

Republican Sen. Ben Sasse of Nebraska, citing conversations with senior White House officials, said on Hugh Hewitt’s radio show that President Trump “wanted chaos on television” on Wednesday and was “confused about why other people on his team weren’t as excited as he was as you had rioters pushing against Capitol Police trying to get into the building.”

Of course, Third Way is against.

Twelve years ago, when the last Democratic president took office, he did not seek broad inquiries into officials from the previous administration for their use of torture practices, or for domestic eavesdropping. Nor did he pursue prosecutions of Wall Street executives for crimes that led to the 2008 financial crisis.

Aside from some grumbling, Barack Obama’s party went along in the name of national unity.

This time, Democrats who have chafed at President Trump’s behavior for four years are not willing to be so accommodating: They want to hold him, his family and his enablers accountable for acts they believe didn’t just break norms, but broke the law.

Whether or not the House pursues impeachment charges against Mr. Trump for his role in inciting his supporters to storm the Capitol on Wednesday, many Democrats say that impeachment is not enough.

Once President-elect Joseph R. Biden Jr. takes office on Jan. 20, wide segments of his party are eager to see investigations and prosecutions of an array of Trump aides and allies — an effort, they say, that would bolster the rule of law after a presidency that weakened it and serve as a warning to future presidents that there will be consequences for illegal actions taken while in office.

The rioting at the Capitol has only intensified that desire. More than a dozen Democrats interviewed in recent days said the president’s role in inspiring the mob violence had prompted them to change their positions: They now want the Biden Justice Department to investigate the president and his aides.

“I was not on the investigate-and-prosecute train before yesterday,” Kathleen Sullivan, a former chairwoman of the New Hampshire Democratic Party, said on Thursday. “However, undermining the very foundations of democracy and the Constitution is a crime that can’t be ignored.”

So far, Mr. Biden has not taken a position on impeachment, let alone the broader agenda of launching criminal investigations. He has said he would leave any decisions about it to his Justice Department, which he has promised will return to the pre-Trump norm of maintaining independence from the White House. His choice of Merrick B. Garland, a centrist judge, as his nominee for Attorney General is another indication of his more measured approach to pursuing investigations and indictments.

His stance reflects not only his politics but a natural inclination not to settle scores — much like Mr. Obama, whom Mr. Biden served for eight years as vice-president. Mr. Obama said shortly before his own inauguration that he believed the nation needed “to look forward as opposed to looking backwards.”

But interviews with more than 50 current and former Democratic elected officials, Democratic National Committee members and party activists found an overwhelming consensus across the party’s ideological spectrum toward holding Mr. Trump personally accountable and launching congressional and Justice Department investigations into him, his family and his top aides — not only for inciting last week’s violent mob at the Capitol but for a host of other actions during his presidency.

The push for accountability for Mr. Trump and his allies is starkest in the party’s liberal wing, especially among progressive people of color who have watched the Trump administration direct the use of tear gas against demonstrators for racial justice, and threaten them with long prison terms.

“Absolutely Trump should do jail time,” said Representative Jamaal Bowman of New York. A Justice Department investigation, Mr. Bowman said, “needs to happen on Jan. 20, as soon as possible.”

The desire to investigate and potentially prosecute Mr. Trump and his aides is not universal among Democrats.

“Martyring Donald Trump is a very bad idea and it could tear the country apart,” said Matt Bennett, a co-founder of Third Way, a moderate Democratic think tank. “It’s just not worth it.”

For those seeking accountability, Mr. Trump is far from the only target. Representative Cori Bush of Missouri said she would introduce a resolution to expel every House Republican who voted on Wednesday to challenge the results of the election. The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee has begun an effort to track down all of the state legislators who participated in Wednesday’s Trump rally and subsequent rampage at the Capitol, and call for their resignations.

Turd Way is NOT moderate. It is craporate Right Wing. So is the editorial board of the NYuckTimes, it seems, anymore.💩🤮

T and R, mags!! ☮️😊👍 I am beyond disgust. I am very angry. I am sick and tired of feeling like a yahoo cos I am an American. That has gone on for decades. So, now we are radical leftists, and all the destruction the FRightwingnut assholes, the FRight business cretins who control them (and the Religious Right suckers) get away with their sh1t yet again. I doubt I will live long enough to see these yahoos get what they justly deserve. End of rant. Whew! 😊

I hear ya. I am beyond angry at this point. They say that yahoo from Arkansas that sat at Pelosi’s desk may get a year. A year! For stealing mail, trashing the place and breaking and entering. And yet, the 3 activist women in Aurora, CO, are looking at 8 years for a peaceful demonstration at the police station protesting the murder of Elijah McClain.

Protesting a pipeline is now a felony. They can throw anything at BLM, water protectors, environmentalists, etc. And the Chicago Police Union boss is all good with the insurrection. Jesus H. Christ. Where are we going???

Republicans who are now seeing the light.🤔🙄

I wonder if he was allowed to bring it on the flight home?

A man who was photographed carrying Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) lectern during the Capitol riot earlier this week has been arrested.

The man, identified as Adam Christian Johnson, 36, was taken to a local jail in Pinellas County, Fla., on Friday night and is being held on a federal warrant, the Miami Herald reported.

Johnson was identified on social media after the photo of him carrying the lectern in the Capitol rotunda went viral, according to local media reports.

He also made several social media posts sharing that he was staying in Washington, D.C., just before the riot and included derogatory comments about the Black Lives Matter movement, according to the Miami Herald.

The FBI announced on Thursday that it was searching for Johnson and others who participated in Wednesday’s violence.
