Happy Saturday friends!
Some things I learned today:
Okay, good. Now keep it that way!!
More good. Can we get some more ‘good’?
The student government at the University of Michigan passed a resolution recommending the university’s governing body investigate its investments in Boeing, Hewlett Packard and United Technologies, companies that profit from Israel’s violations of Palestinian rights.
The victory follows years of attempts by student activists to pass such a measure.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan accused the United States of granting financial aid to members of the Islamic State group, a State Department-listed terrorist organization.
“The United States has disappointed us a lot, saying that it fights Daesh (the Islamic State group) but in reality it gave them a lot of support,” said the head of state at a meeting of the Justice and Development Party, AKP, the ruling party of Turkey.
Our complicity in the Yemen famine is heart-wrenching, to say the least. Last I heard the supposed lifting of the blockade will only affect areas loyal to the Saudis.
Something not often mentioned but the US Navy ACTIVELY participates in the US-Saudi coalition blockade on Yemen. pic.twitter.com/XFsZkwpspA

Cambodia outlawed the main opposition party:
The ban on the Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP), decreed by the Supreme Court at the government’s request, followed the arrest of its leader for treason. Kem Sokha is accused of plotting to take power with American help.
And here is an alternate ‘take’ on what’s going on now with sexual impropriety, like I said, an alternate view:
The entire identity politics crowd in the US, like the establishment as a whole, is moving sharply to the right, toward support for censorship, political or moral witch-hunting and outright repression. The Weinstein-Spacey-Louis C.K affairs (with more to come!), combined with the “fake news” and anti-Russia campaigns, have simply provided these people the occasion for more brazenly embracing a right-wing, anti-democratic program.
But, are you kidding me?
Ridiculous. If you're a man who can't be alone with a woman and not grab her or rub up against her, you probably shouldn't be around any people, ever. https://t.co/ovZQMhSzfL

Mike Pence’s policy of avoiding being alone with women other than his wife looking better every day, though widely mocked when it first became known.

The situation in Puerto Rico doesn’t seem to have improved much. What will it take for its most recent colonizers to attend to them?
One week after Hurricane Maria, without any aid for her town, Punta Santiago, a mother with a newborn wrote: “SOS: Necesitamos Agua/Comida!!!” (We need Water/Food) on the street for helicopters to see. @TheYoungTurks pic.twitter.com/ihTJlcr8mK

Saw this too – can I have PandaCare please? (sorry for the ad)
Yes, “if only all humans had heath care this good”.
And Bernie’s still pushing, in a good way:
Yesterday my colleagues and I sent a letter to Sec. Tillerson asking him to make it easier to send U.S. aid for Iranian earthquake relief. The U.S. has routinely offered to help the Iranian people in times of need. This time should be no different. pic.twitter.com/k56BmPUVeu

Whoa, Sherrod Brown got Orrin Hatch all “worked up”!
Yooooo Sherrod Brown absolutely takes Orrin Hatch to task for the absolutely shameless GOP tax cut for rich people bill. This is a must watch. Orrin Hatch trying to act offended, but him getting so tight shows he knows Brown is right. pic.twitter.com/bvuXxliBfh

I’ll end this post with a quote from James Thurber:
“Your mind may not be much good, but it’s all you’ve got to misunderstand with.”
Please add anything you’ve learned recently below, if you are so inclined!
