Democrats need leaders to take Trump on. Pelosi & Schumer aren’t cutting it.

The Progressive Wing Posted on July 22, 2019 by Subir GrewalJuly 22, 2019

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, speaking in Jordan at the end of a four-day, four-nation tour through the Middle East, expressed support on Monday for Israel and its response to weekly protests in Gaza that have left dozens of people dead. “We do believe the Israelis have the right to defend themselves, and we’re fully supportive of that,” he said at a news conference with Ayman Safadi, the Jordanian foreign minister, when asked about the protests. — www.nytimes.com/… Let us be clear, what Pompeo called “defense” was a nuclear-armed state sending young men and women to shoot at protesters in Gaza, … Continue reading →

Kirsten Gillibrand and 15 out of NY’s 18 House Dems support Medicare for All

The Progressive Wing Posted on September 11, 2017 by Subir GrewalSeptember 11, 2017

New York has a long history of producing progressives focused on delivering health-care to all. Teddy Roosevelt was the first presidential candidate to propose socialized healthcare. FDR was the first president to actually deliver any kind of federal socialized health-care with the EMIC program and Social Security. EMIC provided some maternity and early childhood care, Social Security provided grants to states to provide programs for public health and services to benefit the blind and disabled. Continuing in that long tradition, New York Democrats have stepped up to support John Conyers’ Medicare For All bill (HR 676). As of today, 15 out of … Continue reading →

The Progressive Wing Posted on April 21, 2017 by Subir GrewalApril 21, 2017

The Harvard Harris poll sampled over 2000 voters across the country last week (April 14-17). Sanders is viewed favorably by 57 percent of registered voters, according to data from a Harvard-Harris survey provided exclusively to The Hill. Sanders is the only person in a field of 16 Trump administration officials or congressional leaders included in the survey who is viewed favorably by a majority of those polled. […] Only 32 percent have a negative view of Sanders, including nearly two-thirds of Republicans. — thehill.com/… It’s important to note that the survey looked only at current politicians, not those who aren’t in office today. Obama’s … Continue reading →
